I really like Wapiti tapered Cedars, but Surewood Doug Fir shafts have an excellent reputation as well... I’m looking forward to giving those a try. There is something about hunting with Douglas Fir arrow on a slope which is heavily populated with Doug Fir that just appeals to me.
I am also interested in some Canadian Spruce alternatives, but maybe Canada doesn’t qualify for this thread, eh?

I just got my first Doug Fir shafts and I agree. They are good looking, more consistent in weight, spine and straightness. Really enjoy FMJs

Douglas Fir arrows for wood. I thought Easton was the only American made carbon or aluminum shaft. I was a fan of Gold Tip before their move to Mexico, I don't have any of their shafts since the move I wonder if the quality changed.

Another vote for Surewood Shafts. Their Douglas-fir shafts are tough and straight.

Arrow Dynamics shafts are made in USA. I used to shoot them when I hunted a heavier draw longbow.

Easton Aluminums for everything. Platinum Plus for targets & Gamegetter, XX75s for hunting.. Better than any arrow out there for me.

Surewood Shafts Douglas fir. Home grown and a renewal resource. I’ve made thousands of arrows for guys that used them for hunting big game and some for tournament archery. They are great shafts!

Well, if Aluminums are being made from recycled beer cans, I guess they are "renewable"...?

Wapiti Cedar shafts are very nice quality. For Carbon, the CarbonTech Whitetail and Rhino shafts have been the best I've tried.

FMJ's simply hit hard for me. I get better penetration with them by at least 30% as compared to a "same weight (ie gpi) " carbon.

Another vote for Axis. I am not a fan of aluminum as a shaft material due to the potential for bending.

Heat my experience with Carbon Tech is I never have a "flier". Every arrow flies the same, never need to monkey around with twisting nocks etc. They don't seem to be as popular as other brands but they've been around and unchanged for a LONG time: must be a reason...

Just switched back to fmj’s from Easton hexx shafts. Pulled the brass hit inserts and put in 75 grain steel half out inserts.

Always Easton for the past 45 years. I shoot Aftermath 340 with 75 grain brass insert and lighted nock, weighs exactly 500 grains.

Used to shoot ACC's. Switched to Axis maybe 14 years ago. Shooting 29" 340's with a 50gr brass insert for little better FOC. Shot Carbon Express Maxima Red's along side the Axis' for a few years. Nice arrows, didn't seem to do anything better than the Axis.
