Our spirit and maybe our life. Big tree branches are snapping off and crashing to the ground!

I’m out. Wasn't ready for the cold. I was on my way to a different location at this spot when i saw a flashlight in the dark goin in. Forced me to the field edge. Guess it worked out. Only 1 jake was harmed in the scope of this hunt.....kilt even!

I was in Mass also,35° with a steady 15-20,25 wind with gusts to maybe 40. Have to say I should've watched the weather report. No answers to my calls till I was ready to leave. Stood up and lifed the box call overhead hoping to reach out a little further and got an answer. 2 Jakes came in, walked past at 8' and walked up to the funky chicken. Only one walked away and yes its time to look for Grampy now.

Way to go guys! Yes very very cold this morning. I was definitely caught off guard with the real feel temp this morning. We went on a scouting mission yesterday afternoon and found well over 30 birds. With that I thought it would be a slam dunk on the dawn of my 41st seasons. Mother Nature had other plans though. We didn’t hear one gobble at daybreak but I did call in a flick of seven jakes. I don’t shoot jakes so they are still out there. We managed to hear a couple of gobbles through the gusts of wind at 7am but that bird was on the other side of the river well off of our permission. That was the only excitement for the remainder of the morning. Oh well that’s what makes it hunting and I had a great time on my first ever Massachusetts turkey hunt.
