Update. These small deer are hard to judge but the AZ Coues buck I killed this January was PY scored recently. Gross 74, and netted 72 1/8. PY minimum for this species is 70 inches. Fun deer to hunt. My best, Paul

the year 2012, this coues buck has been my best one. Scored in the mid 90s.

I have done most of my Euro Skull mounts in the home kitchen. Slightly smells up the house for awhile but worth the price.

Hey Mark, When I hunted Mexico a few years on a 40,000 acre ranch, a few bucks that size were observed. I missed this one. When you have an area, of private land, few hunters and pressure, the bucks can grow larger antlers for sure. Hard to realize a 110# buck can have a 115 in--130 rack down there but as evident, your pics, they do. Nicely done.

Nice bucks.... ANY Coues buck with a bow is a trophy! It's the only deer I've hunted that ducks arrows and is about 5yds from where it was standing when you released the arrow!

Awesome, need to get back down there myself…

Hey Sam, there is a small Wt, like the Coues that lives in SW Texas and along the Mex/Tex line. Called ( a "mountain" something WT) Ever hunt those?

Nice work Paul, Coues deer and the mountains they live in are amazing. I have been on three rifle hunts in southern AZ but will have a bowhunt planned shortly. Out of curiosity what method did you use to take your bucks? over water, spot and stalk?

Beautiful bucks Paul. K114 has been put to work in Arizona this year! I may have to get her back, now that I have my cat a coues is #1 on my wish list.

Jack, check out my story on the WT conference, concerning K114 and deer in AZ. Posted in mid Feb. Explains how I have hunted and how I killed this buck. Of the 6 AZ bucks, one was from a tree stand, two were spot and stalk, and three were from natural ground blinds. The 7th one in Mex was from a tent blind over water. The spot and stalks were in thick tree and understory cover and not in a wide open environment where one can see 100s of yards.

Paul, they’re Carmen Mountain Whitetails, I’m pretty sure they are genetically identical to Coues, just some morphological differences due to geographical isolation. I have never hunted them but sure wouldn’t turn down the opportunity.
