A friend and I both got crocodiles while in south africa last week. We're trying to decide what to do with them. We are interested in a full body mount due to the cost. Lol Has anyone taken a crocodile that could share with us what they did?

Definitely Euro the Skull. Congrats on a great trophy.

Euro the skull and have the skin tanned just like you would for a full body mount. Decide what do with it later. I don’t know if it would need to be dry tanned, or garment tanned. I prefer to have all my capes wet tanned when I do mounts for customers. Never done a croc though. Contact The Wildlife Gallery or Carolina Fur Dressing for recommendations on what to do or your preferred taxi on what to do with it.

Eat it!!! Maybe a Euro, no boots! But maybe a purse for the wife and a couple belts!

15-Jul-21
Definately a belt! Or three incase you need a larger one some day. And definately a euro mount with the skull for sure

Not with a croc but I've had belts, wallets, money clips, and a purse made out of the gators that I've taken with my bow. Great Christmas presents, graduation presents, or wedding gifts.

A full body mount would be incredible

I used croc skin on the back of an osage bow I made. Croc, Sturgeon and sharks teeth tip overlays

Not when you’re on a buffet style hunt Ollie.

I'd make sheaths with it and maybe a foot stool, belt and do a euro.

For sure Euro it with some color!

This is a gator not a croc but it gives you an idea.

I added/did the vegetation ect here at home.

Good luck, Robb

Euro the head and tan the hide for a rug if you have a place for it. If not, tan it and use it to make stuff.

Butherboy,

Whats the difference between 1. Wet tan 2. Dry tan 3. Garment tan.

INbowdude,

I also thought about making belt, wallet, shoes note pad and etc. Where would I get something like that made. What type of tanning process for thr hide?

My biggest question does anyone know of a company that makes these items from a hide provided by a hunter?

John thanks for thr link!!

Oasis Leather will make any number of goods from your crocodile. They have four buffalo skins from me that I’m having made into belts, rifle slings, etc. They will collect from just about anywhere in Johannesburg area.

Thanks Ken!! I'll be sure to contact them. I remember something about the skull having to be attached to the hide while Shipping. Something to do with the cites permit?

Have you had some clients take a Buffalo with a bow this year? If, so I would love to see them.

They make gun bags from animal hides. I wonder if they could make a bow case for animal hides. Like this!!

Bow case would look nice if you made the main compartment out of something else. Then use the croc for the smaller compartments. Still voting for the Loin cloth.

Good thought!! Maybe do the rest in leather or in an African hide.

Yeah a hide of something you killed for main bag would look good!

I rarely post....but somebody had to show how sweet a FBM croc looks when done well and positioned in the right location. This one is my dad's and he get's more compliments on it than any other mount in his trophy room(s).

FWIW.....Keystone Tannery in PA does work like this. I've visited their place and got a tour. I seen giraffes, elephant ears and other African big game in there getting the taxi work done. They also handle all of the importation details. They are a big outfit. You might reach out to them for some ideas.

Make a hell of a Halloween costume.
