Its more political than even most people think.
Legally, the NJ bear hunt is authorized via the Black Bear Comprehensive Management Plan and then a vote of the Fish and Game Council. The old plan ran its course and expired. The new plan was developed by F&G.
Now the Governor has instructed his DEP Commissioner to NOT sign the new plan. Thus, without a valid plan, the Council cannot authorize a hunt.
Love those liberal Democrats like Gov Phil Murphy. Everything must depend on "the science." EXCEPT of course when the science doesn't support their extremist ideology!
