In the next 2-3 years I am due for an archery elk tag. Since I am wanting to plan when I go, I will be applying in top units that had more than 1 NR tag allocated the year prior. With that said, this is likely a once in a life time tag for me. I am considering a guide for that reason. I would be want to be able to hunt up to 10 days. Experiences? Thoughts? ...Having killed up to 340" bulls, my goal would be to hold out for something larger than that. Back country, horses, treestands over waterholes, it's all good to me.

How many points do you have? I know there's roughly 3 or 4 cream-of-the-crop type units where your scoring class target is a realistic goal in archery season. But only one of those currently gives a bonus tag to NR.

Ryan Carter, DC Outfitters, gets it done on huge bulls every year. Great guy to talk to on units even if you dont book with him

Depends on where you draw. There are outfitters that specialize in particular units.
