I have a Locon tree stand I bought years ago that has the chain on it. How can I change it to a strap when the Locon company is out of business. Is there any other company that sells a strap setup that will work?

I'd keep the chain, rubber coat it to less the noise. I had one with the chain and it would bite in the tree when set. Beware of standing on the corners, the wobble. Could also use a inner tube to cover the chain.

What’s wrong with chain?

All my stands that have chains I add a ratchet strap as an extra measure even though I use a lifeline on all sets.

The Loc On stand that I have had a chain bolted to one side and a S hook on the other. I unbolted the chain and bolted on another S hook. I use a strap from lone wolf designed to go around versa buttons. Works great!

Easy Peasy.. Get a ratchet strap with a working rating of 500# or more and attach the “S” hooks to appropriate places on the stand. Yes, it is that easy. I have replaced all sorts of chains and original web belts in this manner with no issues.

Chain is noisy. Backpacking my stand in there is no good way to carry it without the chain banging around making noise. I even had the wife sew the seat like a pouch so I can stuff the chain inside and still it makes noise.

Rubber coat the chain. I do it with all my chain on stands

I’ve got 2 of them and I rubber coated the chain and bungee it tight. No noise.

I replaced the strap and cables on my old Loc On stand with new ones. I purchased them from Rivers Edge Tree Stand website parts department. I have also bough parts from Lone Wolf. Just measure and match up.

Throw it away and buy a Chippewa Wedgeloc….

I have to say, I do not trust those little cables. That is why I have the lock on stands. No cables.

Had one decades ago, seat too low for me. Gave it away.

If you like the stand, find something to coat the chain

You can get steel chain that already has a green sleeve on the outside. I think I got mine at the local hardware store. I used it to lock my Summit climber to the tree overnight.

For my stands that have chain. I use a Crown Royal bag. Put the chain in, all the way to the frame. Then tie it off.

Remember that these stand's are designed to wedge and lock into place. Using just ratchet straps doesn't work as it's designed to.

I see so many stands just strapped on and squeek because it's not wedged into place

I would prefer 500# chain strength than straps that can stretch and deteriorate over time
