Whitetail Deer

Haven't seen many (any?) Coues deer hunt reports. I know a bunch of bowsiters have been out hunting those little desert ghosts, and others will be going soon. Post your pics here, for your archery Coues hunts either north or south of the border.
Beautiful deer, Roy! And I know you're holding out on us, Greg :)
First Coues! Still on cloud 9.
Way to go Zack I expect to follow your hunts for a long time young man! Hope to read the story on this hunt!
Wife got in on the action too! First Javy double seconds apart.
Congratulations Zach!! Good buck for your first Coues deer!
Congrats to you, your wife and your hunting partner, Roy!
Way to go, Zach! 2022 is starting off very similar to how 2021 ended for you! Congrats, buddy!
Got an unexpected call from a fellow bowsiter with a last minute opening on his hunt in Sonora last week. Was very fortunate to connect on my first coues deer.
Also managed to get this too.
Not sure why it won’t rotate. Grr.
Just FYI Nick, that is not a coues deer…

Awesome buck, Jared! But you already knew I felt that way :) congrats again bud.
And LOL at Treeman’s post.
“ Just FYI Nick, that is not a coues deer…”
Or 37 jack rabbits.
Again nice job iceman! Did you throw an ax through that buck?
Congrats to all you guys. Keep the pics coming.
Iceman you did great, that buck is fantastic...just the kind of buck we all dream of, when heading south of the border.
It was another truly fun week down in Sonora, hunting with Frank Noska's outfit. Even the 3 inches of rain that fell on the second day couldn't put a damper on the good times.
Somehow a little luck even fell my way in the closing minutes before dusk on the last day of the hunt. And was blessed to take this modest sized little 4x3 buck.
Great bucks! Congrats all!
C'mon, Nick...give up the goods!
Congratulations to all the guys able to get out there and match wits with those little ghosts of the desert! Some great bucks and extras! Wish I was down there:-(
Rocky,
Frank roughed scored him really quickly at 99" and change. Was really fortunate to get him! As Greg said, the hunting got tougher after we got all of that rain.
Figured someone would ask about the holes lol. I shot him way low with a Rage, went about 10 yards, stopped and looked back. Shot him again with a fixed blade. That one hit him good, went about 30 yards or so and expired.
P.S. There are a few others that will show up here soon that are bigger. Will give you the fever for sure!
Huge Congrats iceman!! That is a great Coues buck!
Your photo rotated, Jared lol
Also, I'd be remiss if I failed to point out that this Coues finishes Jared's (iceman) deer slam!! Congrats again, bud! Huge accomplishment!!
Just saw another giant went down to another bowsiter....hope it gets posted!
Congrats guys super nice bucks and javelina
Congrats on finishing your deer slam Jared! Great looking Couse deer.
Congrats on your slam, Jared!
Thanks, guys! Still hard to believe I finished it. Need to do it again now :)
Jared
Fine Shug! I’ll post my other rabbit. :)
He's just toying with the crowd, Shug!
I want to hunt jackalopes :)
BEG—nick is just shy.

Nick….I’d have let that first j-alope walk. He’s not even out past his ears!
Were the jack-a-lope rutting? I hear it is quite a spectacular event!
The Jack-a-lope are rutting hard in WY right now.
How does the male Jack-a-lope tell a female Jack-a-lope from a normal Jack rabbit during the rut? Unless the female Jack-a-lopes also have antlers?
By the smell, John…….Duh!!
wouldn't a jack-a-lope be a jackrabbit and antelope ?
what ya'll have are jack-a-muleys or something like that

Empty Freezer buck shot on the 14th. His first one!
Nick I was worried about sending you, Danny, and Zack to Mexico unsupervised. Those things that you are killing are not cous deer! I think that I may have to join you guys again to bring a little supervision to the group!
Congrats on your first, Empty!
As seasons wind down, I know for a fact that a bunch more Coues bucks have come home with some of you bashful bow-siters. Don't forget to share!
no kidding, sticksender...some dandies!
That’s a damn fine jackalope Nick!
I see Jason is wingin it!
It’s a great one Zack, first buck I saw!
Let’s just say I was inspired, Nick!
Unless you’re as good and Nick and his crew it seemed like it was a tough season all around for most with lots of rain this year…
I was fortunate to have a slightly deaf dumb and 1/2 blind buck walk past me a few hours into the hunt on the first morning .
An hour later a 95” minimum buck almost bought the farm as well but a wind swirl kept me from putting a hole in him.
Nicely done Mark. You got to love the deaf and blind deer that give you an opportunity. Good thing the buck did not cross down wind.
Nice one Shug, beautiful buck.
Congrats again, Mark! Sat that same blind on two separate occasions and that 95" deer never showed...you must've scared him good :)
Nice job Mark, way to kill and spook them all so your buddies can't shoot any! :)
Not an archery buck, but after getting clients tagged out on 3 mule deer, a mid 90’s coues, and a 112” coues I had a couple hours to hunt for myself. Ended up shooting this buck with about 10 minutes to spare before we had to leave to get the clients back to Hermosillo. Threw a tape on him and came up with a little over 114”. He’s my first coues, and I’m hooked now! I can’t wait for a chance to hunt them with a bow now!
Congrats on all the nice Coues bucks! I spent 35 days hunting AZ in December and January and came home empty. Was a slow year for me without a single opportunity at a big buck! Must have forgot how, Haha
way to kill and spook them all so your buddies can't shoot any
Still smelled like cigar smoke in the blind, Nick!
Congratulations! Coues are so much fun!
I’m not sure how Mark killed a deer without his lucky shirt on!
Zack it was in my pack… And now I have a question for you or anyone else who’s hunted Coues over water.
How often have you had the same buck come to water 2x within 30 minutes of first watering?

I almost had a buck return to water about 5 minutes after the arrow I sent his way blew up on the circled cut limb. He started coming back, but decided against it. Don’t think that’s what you’re looking for but that’s my closest data point haha
I have not seen them return If they came and had a full drink. However, if something interrupted them drinking—or before they had a chance to drink—I have seen bucks come in multiple times to get a drink.
The other exception is if they follow in multiple does that come to drink…
I wish I had more data for you Shug but I usually don’t have a tag left after the first day ;)
Ok… so regarding the shirt. A girl I’m camp this year took my shirt a few days after I killed. She sat and had one fork horn come in. Pretty nice mass and frame just genetically a jalopy. The buck drank and left… she texted Mike and said it drank but she didn’t shoot because she thought he would be upset if she shot it.
He responded shoot what ever you want it’s your hunt… Minutes later the exact same buck came back and got kilt
Some of these coues are as big as whitetails.. Great job guys and gals..
Check out the size of this one my buddy just shot, wow!
He must be long arming it…
Can you use a flash next time!
Looks like the one I shot, Nick!
Congrats to all great looking critters including the wabbits good luck Lewis
