Deerhunter here is the nest from a couple weeks ago. Not a great picture. But I'd guess it is 6 plus feet across.

Awesome! We are getting to have a strong bald eagle population here in S. Illinois, actually saw one this morning on my way to work. I haven't been able to get a close up look at a nest yet. Thanks!

This nest is off a well used trail that runs along a local river. I was out there a couple hours yesterday as I have done many time before, the eagles use same nest year after year. People walk, bike, run by with in probably 30 yards of nest the nest and eagles are in plan sight. It amazes me the number of people that have no idea it is there and never look up or even slow down. What is the point of going for a walk if you don't even pay attention to the nature that is around you.

Very cool John! What kind of fish is that could you tell? It looks like a goldeye but I didn't think you guys got those down there.
That's crazy. Eagles here have not even started laying and you've got eaglets already.

Adam I think it is a blue marlin or sword fish. But that is only a guess. If that is not it I have no idea. ;)

Hey John what body of water was that over if you don't mind me asking? Curiosity is getting the better of me now.

Adam it is in the Poudre river. Not in the mountains but on the front range. However I don’t think they fishing on the river. Near by is a golf course and neighborhood with several small lakes, seems to be the direction they come from. I think that is where they are catching fish. Attached are a couple pics from last year at same nest. One fish is a crappie and I know that did not come from river.

Very cool John. Great pics. Those silvery fish 100% look like goldeye. Taste amazing smoked.

Adam my guess and only a guess is they are gizzard shad. But I would not bet the farm on it.

Great pics, and the Eagles are eating good, crappie!! It's always amazed me how a animal without hands can build such a big, sturdy nest to withstand high winds and weather. Mother Nature is awesome!

Great pics John and I'm glad you had a good Easter lunch. How did those birds taste? I've always liked Peregrine Falcon better. HaHa.

Great pics!! I am fortunate to see eagles frequently on family property. They nest along a river a few miles away and fly over often. They will clean out a small farm pond stocked with channel cat in one summer.
