Had another great trip to the Diamond C. Been trying for years to get on a big Axis buck and the last three years we’ve been trying to get one in velvet. Last morning of my hunt, with the sunrise in the background this big boys walks in. He wouldn’t come any closer than 30 yards, but that was far enough. Shot was a little high, dropped him and a quick follow shot to make sure he didn’t get up and finally scored a giant 30+ inch axis in velvet. Can’t say enough about how great this place is and already counting the days until we get back to chase some more critters at the C.

Amazing trophy. How does the meat compare to a whitetail? I would love a trophy or two for the wall, but wouldn’t do it if my stomach wasn’t involved.
