Tried to be open minded, here’s my take so far. The partisan committee has not proved Trump organized this debacle; however, he ignored multiple pleas to put an end to it, and his words might have incited some into thinking trump wanted them to take action.
Unless the narrative changes as the hearings progress, I do not see anything he can be prosecuted for but I hope they agree to a ban on him being elected again.
Hopefully the same committee will look into Hillary’s lies regarding Russia collusion, just out of fairness.

All they did was introduce key points. Making a case for anything off the introduction paragraph of an article doesnt make sense - nor does it make sense off the intro of a hearing/presentation like this.
That said, thus far, a few tidbits surprised me, despite having tried to read a lot to stay on top of developments with it. The reality is that the guy lost the pop vote 2X (16 and 20) and the EC 1X (20). The other reality is that before, during and currently, he's determined to tell you that fraud is the only way he can lose, yet every time - including when HIS PEOPLE - investigate said fraud, there is so little, that you have better odds of dying from covid AND THEN coming back to win powerball than either of his elections being steered by fraud. He's also never articulated how during all this massive fraud, his was the only fraudulent election. Not the lady who is an R that won some local / state race on the same ballot or the guy who won a fed rep seat etc... Those were all totally cool, just his was stolen. That's rhetorical, his wasnt and theirs wasnt. He lost. Had he just said as much, and even weakly accepted defeat, it's incredibly hard to believe the capitol riot would have happened. Strains credibility for me to believe otherwise.
So, is the riot in the capitol with folks smearing their feces on the wall and trying to stop (momentarily succeeding) a normal function of the US government a really really really bad thing, and at the feet of the guy, who at the time, was in charge? Yes.

Yeah, groups of people get together and protest. Sometimes, emotions are so hot, people lose it and do / say dumb stuff. And when that happens, they should have consequences.
This thread, is about whether the former president's lying lead to a bunch of Americans being radicalized enough to push reams of false info and to try and overturn an election where he lost. For many of those folks, their lives are ruined now with felony arrests, big fines, jail time, etc. Why were they there? If they had been told the truth - that the other candidate won - would they have gone to the capitol?
Now, I dont know if there is evidence to totally prove he did that (motivated people to disrupt gvmt) to the point of a conviction of some sort... But I know he sure didnt try to tamp it down, he sure lost in a way that most parents would find horrific if their child mirrored his behavior after a loss (actually, most would be mortified if their child acted like he did in debates in 16 as well)... And I know he factually fundraised to the tune of hundreds of millions of dollars pitching a bogus idea that he'd had his re-election stolen.
Does that mean he is responsible for trying to stop the normal proceedings of the US government? Not sure. It feels very hard to argue his words, actions and rhetoric didnt heavily contribute.
So, I dont know what happens in the end. My hope is that the guy crawls into a hole at Mar a Lago and quietly golfs away the rest of his days excitedly hoping on his social media company's page to talk about super golf shots. He wont though.

I’m curious as to whether you’d be so passive of potential evidence if it was YOU that was in the hot seat? I don’t support what happened, but I damn sure support using the proper investigation methods to find the truth and punish the perpetrators. Prime-time hearings have not been done since Watergate if I remember correctly however the Dems have given the Repubs a great idea. The next prime-time hearings will be concerning a laptop and a current sitting president in the next 12-18 months.
There are voters who are either right or left no matter what. It’s the undecided people in the middle, who decide who wins or loses. I voted for Trump both times, but he has become a poison pill for people who want a republican in the White House.
If we want republican leadership it has to come from somebody else. Donald Trump has turned too many undecided voters the other way. Conservatives will not win if he is the candidate. He has become what Hillary was in 2016.

We have a real problem in this country that's unsolvable.
Fully half the population falls below average intelligence. That's simply statistics. When I was in school, anything below 60% was a failing grade. If you use that criteria, 60% of the population has a failing level of intelligence.
The problem arises because in our democratic republic, the vote of everyone counts equally, no matter their level of intelligence.
Meanwhile, at the hearings
President Trump was at a minimum incompetent the week of January 6. Likely he knowingly created responsibility for the attack on property and persons. Speaker Pelosi never rejected a prompt offering of assistance from President Trump as there was none offered promptly. Pentagon as well as other timelines prove the assertion Speaker Pelosi reject assistance of armed personnel is a lie but Mark Twain was fond of saying a lie is halfway around the world before the truth can even get its shoes put on. Move the goalposts on January 6 if want to so can focus on inflation or other issues but that does nothing to reduce President Trump's responsibility to lead and he failed the week of January 6. That is the issue before the House and deserves to be heard. The GOP abdicated its available role in the hearings and that is a failure of their leadership to understand how law-abiding citizens want nothing to do with supporting the damage and injuries that took place. Rebuild the gallows and start stringing up those that did the damage. They were not patriots nor roles models. They were hooligans dressed up for CosPlay. Time to feel the wrath for those actions. What happened to ‘innocent until proven guilty”… due process? Most of you remember how the American legal system USED to work… right? Again, I don’t support the events of Jan 6. My wife watched and came in and told me she never thought the USA would would be like Venezuela which is where she is from. She said watching the hearings was just like watching Hugo Chavez. Thankfully she told me most of the American people know that it is a sham. I know that I will get educated by all of you constitutional scholars on here. Forgive me if I am wrong , but I thought that the constitution guarantees every citizen due process. Which, much to the liberals surprise, is includes the right to defend oneself, the right to call witnesses, the right to cross-examine witnesses - all governed by the rules of evidence. The GOP did not get to name its participants on the committee. The two republicans are Trump haters. If Pelosie was not offered troops, why doesn’t she testify under oath to that fact??? This is just more of the Mueller hearing bs. More democrat lawyers deciding who gets deposed and what evidence gets presented. No opportunity to counter any of it. I get that many of you libs absolutely despise Trump , but you would cry like a baby if you were on trial under similar rules. I am tired hearing that Jan 6 is the biggest risk to our democracy. No, the bastardization of our justice system that we are witnessing with this hearing is a much larger risk.
MadTrapper, this is an investigative hearing, NOT a trial. If/when the findings are sent up for prosecution, then Trump will have the right to defend.

I retired from a large toy company that made wooden toys in NY... I was hired by a manager that was loathed by 95 percent of its employees, he had a Trump like personality and was feared by his staff... I challenged him when I thought reasonable, he respected that, but still reprimanded me in front of said staff. That man was the boss and took alot of punches , he maintained a huge campus and had many employees... at the time I disliked him but he paid me a good salary, benefits, and pension which I now enjoy. He never asked anything illegal of his employees, just do what I ask... no problems. My point... to this day most remaining employees say those were the good ole days.

It's a choice between two in the general. Never in my voting life have I liked either enough to be a big supporter. Every time in my voting life I have disliked one enough to vote for the better one. I use my little vote to send a message in primaries but once it's the Superbowl, there are only two in the game. DanaC - the end game here is that the Dems are going to claim Trump promoted an insurrection to try and declare he can't run for office again under the 14th Amendment. They couldn't take him down with 2 impeachments, so now we have this political theatre.

Representatives Raskin and Schiff did not appear confident or believable during their television appearances in reference to Ms. Hutchinson's testimony. Additionally, if it was known that her testimony conflicted with the statements and testimony of others, (like the note she claimed she wrote) there should at least be a declaration of that circumstance. Not a good look for the Committee.
Any time a witness uses the phrase “to the effect of” you know they are not being totally truthful. Not only did she do it once but twice.
