I didn't see one posted yet. I'm not elk hunting but love to live vicariously through those who are. Post up some pics folks!! And Good Luck!
Might as well get it started..... Roosevelt, from Oregon. I bought this hunt at the Pope and Young convention last year. It was a fully donated hunt by Ken Wilson. Great hunt. Thanks Ken, for the donation to P&Y!
Congrats! I guessed that was Oregon looking at all the ferns and moss.
Congrats on your bull, Alan! Looks like a crazy rack configuration. Any other pics?
Awesome bull, head looks like a moose!
Congrats first on the board
Excellent Roos…Bowjangles Tule would have been first!
Congrats on a great bull!
What a stud Rosie!! Congrats!
I like those Rossie's
Congrats man,
Robb
Nicely done, Good eater for sure. Paul
Congrats a beautiful bull
Congratulations on a beautiful bull. Love the coloration of the antlers and the bull's coat is just perfect. Way to start off the thread.
That bull is Huge! Congrats!
Congrats Allen. It's great to see success from a P&Y donor and Auction winner.
Nick must not be hunting elk yet...........
Congrats!! The rack configuration from that angle almost looks like what you'd get if you merged a whitetail with an elk. Wild!!
I'm late to the party but here goes...
Tule Elk. Mendocino County, California. Richard Eriksen. First Elk. Epic.
Congrats on that gorgeous Rosie, Alan!!
Great Bulls!!! Congrats guys.
Thanks Jay but to be fair that was my 3rd shot you're seeing. While that shot was good the first one grazed him low and the second shot missed him totally. Not my finest bit of shooting. Admittedly the size and majesty of this animal shook me to pieces and the first two shot reflect that fact.
So let me get this straight. you shoot a polar bear with a recurve, and you can’t keep your crap together to shoot an elk with a compound. :>)))))
Oddly enough, yes!!! lol. I crumbled......
Beauties - congrats folks!
Fantastic elk so far, but it's crazy we don't have an American elk one week into September.
I didn't draw an elk tag this year, so I'm needing to live vicariously through others.
Got it done for my BIL on 9/6, bugling was slow though while we were there. (4 days)
Nice bull Squatch! By the looks on those faces, might there be some geographic regret as you now consider the pack out?? Lol
"Geographic Regret" LMAO!! Congrats guys!!!!
Jeez Quickdraw......cant beat that pic...
Nothin' ruins a good elk hunt like killin' an elk..... =D
Cool, congrats boys on gettin' it done!
AZ started today, should get interesting…
Ki-ke, no not really. Was about 2.5 miles and 1k ft elevation drop but 95% was on an old abandoned road so it wasn’t all that bad
That’s just our (excited faces) haha
LOL, I thought the same thing. Congrats on a great bull.
Nice to see some early harvests---------->
Congrats, Robb
My first elk hunt ever, took 12 years to draw the tag. Think I’m hooked!! Wyoming bull
^...Congrats and nice pic!!
Great bull and I suspect your hooked as well!!
My buddy pulled it off today too while we were in Wyoming. Bull died 250 yards from where mine did.
2 great bulls!!!! Congrats.
Too unique to pass up, especially at 15 yards. May never see another drop tine again.
Nice Mike!!! Congrats, awesome bulls!
9/9 CO otc. With the army of hunters and heat I was not letting him walk! It’s off to deer and bear……
Congrats to all the successful hunters, so far!
Great success on some trophies. Congrats !!
holy freakin moly...congrats CONative!
Well that's a big boy! Congrats!
Wow, some monsters already, congrats guys.
Nice work fellas!!! I love this thread!
Congratulations to all !!
CONative........that's a gorgeous bull! Aside from how huge he is that color on him is amazing. Dream bull for sure. CONgrats!!!
Moon's changing and Fall Equinox hits this upcoming week...It'll get better! ;-)
How’s forestbows doing this year
How’s forestbows doing this year
Hard to follow up CONative - what an awesome bull! To get the ball rolling again, here is the smallest bull I have ever taken! Still very happy with him and always grateful to have more Elk meat.
Nice Bigfoot, perfect eater…
I'll be the first cow. I picked up a B cow elk leftover tag. This cow came in feeding at 20 yards and kept turning and looking the wrong way at a spike she was with. It was a horribly long packout of dense black timber...
Absolutely exhausted I decided to take a day off and relax... but then chose that night to walk into a new area where I found this bull, I bugled he bugled and we fell for each other. We met at 7 FEET facing in the dark timber. Fortunately, I was already drawn for the occasion and made a frontal, he went 20 yards and rolled down into a creek..now I'm beyond sore and battered after shooting 2 and packing them out in 3 days. Id do it again in a heartbeat!
Congrats all. Great looking Elk!
Hell Yeah--------->
Congrats All,
Robb
I had decided after about 10 minutes of advertising bugles I wasn't going to have anything come by. Took the arrow off the string and that's when I smelled him. Knocked the arrow and made a few more bugles and this little guy's come from behind the brush at 40 yards. If he wouldn't have walked directly up wind from me I would have walked away from this guy never knowing.
Good job Well strung! Nice bull scrappy! Surprised we’re half way through September and only a handful of elk on the meat pole.
Heck yeah guys!!!! It’s awesome. CONative killed my dream bull!!
Tough hunt this year - 3 of us hunted hard this is the only elk we saw.
Shot it evening of the second day. it was HOT - in the mid 80's every day and we were at about 8,500 feet. Fairly easy pack out of about 1 1/2 miles.
Fried up fresh inner loins, little seasoning, some butter, nice and rare with a cold drink -- just plain doesn't get any better!
Colorado OTC 9/12. Im feeling like bowaddict this year. More hunters than I've ever seen before and bugling was almost non-existant. This was the first bull I saw after 9 days of hunting. Couldn't pass.
My friend just got this one. Nice silvies Oregon Bull.
OTC Colorado…..long pack out!
Colorado - public land. Draw unit. First elk with a bow.
Guys are taking some nice Elk! Anybody that can get close enough to stick a bull or cow is doing something right, or just plain lucky!!

Congrats to all the above. Finally got the monkey off my back and got my first bull in Colorado.
Congrats Dennis and everyone. I never even strung my recurve while elk hunting this year. I focused entirely on helping my son in law kill his first bull. He had multiple opportunities on mature bulls. Missed one and wasn’t prepared or didn’t know when to execute on 3 others. Which is all part of the learning curve for new hunters.
Jacks first elk with a bow.

My spike.
My spike.
Just got back from elk hunting. My buddy Jack got his first elk after 28 seasons hunting with his long bow. Both great eating elk. Jack shot his at 20 and mine was 22 yards.
My brother shot this 5 pt. bull in Utah back in August and my son shot this bull last weekend in Wyoming. This is his first bull elk and first bow kill. It’s been an amazing fall so far!!
Congrats to all of you who have killed elk so far. Good luck to those of you still chasing!
58 yard shot. Arizona.
58 yard shot. Arizona.
Well done! Living vicariously through everyone this year!
Our group tagged out diy public land in New Mexico
Me and my son hunted with forest bows at flat top adventures. This was our first ever elk hunt. We had three opportunities by the second morning. The weather was unbearably hot but we were into elk almost every day. I took my first elk on the second morning. And was able to take a bear on our third evening.
Great job, congrats to everyone who filled tags. Always next year to those of us who tried and didn't fill. We hunted a new unit and learned a bunch and even thou we came home empty it was still a great week in the mountains. Best of luck to those still holding tags.
Lots of elk hitting the ground! Congratulations to all the successful bow hunters! Extra big CONGRATULATIONS to all you who got your first elk!
I was with a buddy when he arrowed this bull on 9-20. It was diy on public land in northern NM.
Congrats all! Just got back from a short hunt with buddies in CO otc. I hope for the sake of my resident friends the CPW does something soon to address the crowding in otc units so EVERYONE can have a better quality elk hunt.
That said, we got REAL close to a screaming bull with my buddy cnelk keeping him talking and me trying to close the distance. Just too thick and couldn't find a lane before he left with his lady friend. An hour and a half of pure adrenaline, though, and a great time with friends.
Wyoming general bull after 4 days of great elk hunting. Couldn’t resist this young 5

Congrats to all. Good luck to those still in the hunt
This thread just keeps on giving! You guys are getting it done. Congrats to all!
Sometimes you just lace up your boots and keep walking. This was one of those years . Congrats to all!! Ready for next September !! Hunt
Looking forward to your story and pics HUNT MAN! Classics year after year!
Bowboy, loved your choice of weapon. Congratulations.
Wyoming 2022. 11 yard shot. Fun Hunt.
WY, 09/27/2022, GEN Area. Not the biggest I chased… but after 12 days alone at a spike camp he looked plenty big enough at 25 yards. Hard to believe magic month has come and gone again. Congrats to the other successful hunters!
12 days solo is impressive! Strong work darktimber.
Congrats everyone on your elk. Big, small or a cow; there’s nothing better. I shot this bull on a solo trip on the 13th. My nephew Sam and great nephew Westen saved my butt on the pack out the next day.
I added a photo showing the true nature of that hellhole. Elk love it.
Congrats, Ron!
Congrats to others on their success, as well!
Congrats to all! Love see'n each and every one.
First time ever hunting CO. Was a blast. Some strong country. Blessed in many ways.
Looking good fella's-------->
Good luck, Robb
Another nice bull for Ron. Then he spent more time trying to help my wife and I and his nephew Sam get an elk. After some chances he failed. He couldn’t overcome my rangefinder mismanagement. Thanks Ron! Congratulations on all the elk guys!
My 58th elk with a bow….Congrats to all the elk killers on this thread!
CO bull. I won some 175 grain Ironwill heads on the bowsite give away and took my first shot at a big game animal at this bull. He was down in 5-10 seconds and made it about 40 yards.
Congrats to all the successful hunters!
Colorado OTC, public land September 19th. Had 3 bulls bugling. Had one come in and stepped out at 25 yards slightly uphill. That bull caught me drawing and ran off. Approximately 30 minutes later this bull came in to the exact same location and the outcome was better.
Incredible Williboat, a lifetime of no BS commitment right there!
Nice to see some regulars here posting up some bulls.
I punched 3 elk tags and bear in September, I'm tired.
Trying turmeric this year with my tag soup..........
Great pics by the killers....thanks for sharing....now post up some stories! ;)
I shot this bull on the 23rd as it was chasing a cow. Luckily she passed 20 yards in front of me and he followed.
Some Hunts just hit a little different!! This one will go down as one of those!! Ridge had to cover his ears and lay on the ground as this bull came screaming in. Jace did the rest!! Hunt
Bottom of the ninth and two hours left in my hunt and I hit a Montana home run!
Great to see them piling in! Congrats everyone!! TODDY
Congrats to all the smiling faces on this thread!
I thought there would be more Az. bulls by now.....
Good luck, Robb
Awesome! The only thing bigger than the elk are the smiles!
9/28 MT Glad I left the stickbow at home. After trying for 3 years to get it done with my long bow I was ready to have elk meat in the freezer. My hats off to everyone who filled their tag.....especially recurve/longbow guys. That's next level.....
Congrats to all the successful elk killers!
No elk meat in the freezer is bad Ju Ju:)
What a cool bull ss75. Love those brow tine extras
Called this bull in for my friend

I get to participate this year! WY 9/28/22. Last morning of our hunt
Does this one count? I almost hit him as he ran out of my field and into the forest next to me…..darn things! :)
Smoke Pole Hole
Smoke Pole Hole
Tagged out September 16th in an unusual way on a Colorado public land OTC hunt. Last day of week-long hunt we parked the truck, hiked in about 100 yards, and stumbled across a bull laying on its side. As I approached it, it got up and started to move off so I quickly knocked an arrow and shot it. Dropped dead 20 yards away. Turned out it had been shot in the loin by a muzzleloader, probably days earlier. Not how I would've expected to kill my first public land bull, but stoked nontheless!
Lando,
That's great that you were able to put that bull down. Sucks it had to live like that until you showed up. Good ending for both of you.
Congrats bow hunt. That's great to get a double.
What's the story on your friends bull? Was that an exit hole or did he just get lucky and hit an artery? No judgement here. Just wondering. I've put an arrow deep into chest of a bull and never found him and then have had a marginal hit and they die within 100 yards. They are incredibly tough animals.
Quinn@work
My buddies bull was a hard 1/4 away shot. So he pretty much 10 ringed it for his angle. That’s the entrance.
It spooked when he was drawing his bow, and cow called to stop it. The bull immediately stopped and looked back. Giving him that shot.
Shooting two a couple minutes apart was a lot of work, but nice to fill both tags near the end of the season.
It’s always our goal for us both to tag out.
What a bull deerslayer!
A dream bull
(Picture gremlins are at it again…. Double post)
Congrats all!
Open country, southern Alberta Elk hunt. Lots of elk, lots of eyes, lots of cows, few bulls make for challenging Bowhunting!
2022 will go down as a tough pill to swallow. I drew a great Idaho tag and secured permission on a great property. I had many encounters (some documented on video) and on the 4th day I arrowed a good herd bull. I was solo this year as my hunting partner for the last 15 years was in Heaven. Anyhow, I simply couldn't find my bull. I kept looking, had friends help and 10 days later he was found by smell. DANG IT! I hate losing Elk meat. Here he is, but not sure I can count him as a harvest. Pretty bummed about it. Nice 6X7. Oh and before some of you say it......LOL. Yes, this is the same Mt.Man as past years. I'm just 107 lbs skinnier......LOL.
Way to go Scott. Congrats on both accomplishments.
A couple bulls from September.
^....that's a cool looking one. Congrats to all so far.
That's a MOOSE of an elk!
ORboy..... you must have been packin' elk all month. Good job on a couple dandies. Congrats to all! Love seein' elk on da ground and great big smiles!
Congrats guys. Nice bulls and cow.
Always good to have new female Bowhunters…especially when they marry your son! :)
Alberta - OTC - 1.5 year old dry cow
Love this thread every year- contemplating a guided hunt in '23....this isn't helping haha!
