Big first morning with a shooter showing up! Check out our morning update. Heading right back to that stand to see if he's gonna come back this afternoon.
As usual, we will be posting an update at least daily, sometimes twice a day. Baiting is legal and we utilize it on this hunt. Get over it.
Good luck they should be rutting by now.
Good luck Pat!!
I have always enjoyed the semi live hunt. One of these years I need to get back to Kansas.
Your last line made me chuckle Looking forward to your updates!
That escalated quickly. I can't seem to find a buck that big anywhere around here lately.
Good luck maybe a blood trail too !!!
Now this is a new one. That’s a badger feeding alongside a bunch of does.
Things are most definitely out of whack.
Pat you really shouldn't assume that badger is a badger. It's clear by your pic it self identifies as a doe.:)
I may be a little late on my update.
“Get over it”. LOL! I’m thinking one Kansas resident won’t. :)
My buddy killed a bruiser out there this morning. Said it blew wide open yesterday. Good luck.
Badgers?…Badgers!….We don’t need no stinking badgers!!
I have a feeling pats tracking a big 9 that he stuck a slick trick into…
Either that or the bears followed him south and he’s dealing with them at the sites running the deer off.
Waiting on bowsites finest to complain about the baiting for like the 5th year in a row
"Bowsite's Finest" passes up more bucks than most :)
I may be a little late on my update.
=) hancock.....I was going to post something similar lol
Pats tracking a trophy badger
He's busy taking a bunch of misleading pics for the Blood Trail Challenge.
You need my hound? I'm 3.5 hours from your exact location. $599.99
lol. Sounds like a day 1 tag notch to me!
Had to carry in the buckets of corn by hand? :)
It’s 11:05 am EST and patiently waiting for an update! ;-)
Yep Rut...Thinking we have a story coming...
Gotta draw it out for a few more clicks. We understand!
"LOST" Season 7... In this season Pat has been abandoned in the Sunflower State. He encounters various friends and foes alike ranging from Dorothy (also lost) looking for her pet pup, a 6'9" Jayhawk named Jameer looking for a game of hoops, an eagle named Walsh looking for home, and a QB also named Pat, looking for another ring. Stay tuned...
I think he’s just messing with us now guys! : )
Why are you in Kansas now? This is the best rut week in Ohio. Especially in having a farm like yours to hunt.
If its been this long, it’s not looking good. Might be the Blood Trail Challenge that no one solves, even Pat.
That badger won't let him out of the tree.
I’m betting Pat is at the ER, getting treated for a rash caused by a negative reaction to aflatoxins.
Troy you saying the corn has gone bad?
If ur lost in a standing cornfield Pat, just follow the rows until u come to the end. (Inside kind of advice)
He’s giving us the old switcheroo and posting it on a political site to get more viewership
Bou
I thought Bowsite was a political website?
The next we hear from Pat, he will be in a treestand in Ohio, with a bloodtrail challenge that stretches from Kansas to his food plots in Ohio.
I’m still hoping for a positive outcome. The Bowsite could use it, IMO.
Matt
The blood hounds must of been called in.
Not looking good. We Habra all lost one before though. I am used to people leaving us hanging but not Pat. Lol
Pat may have tried Nick Muche’s trick and attempted to kill that badger with a shovel. But lost instead.
I think it is he dropped his phone from stand and also decided all day sits are for weenies so staying in stand day and night in stand for duration of hunt.
Pat has update page. I'll just a deer was not killed yesterday. ;)
Bou
I thought Bowsite was a political website?
Wow. That’s amazing. Leave it to pat to make a memory! Now we just need him to share it with you all.
Congrats Pat and great buck!
Has Pat ever mentioned if there are any Amish nearby his Kansas retreat?
I was on pins and needles, on wether you found him or not ;-) Congrats!
Shoots a great buck, gets drunk and sleeps half the next day away while we hang there!!
May all your racoons turn into bears.
Though the last live hunt was much more entertaining what with the bears and such that's one fine deer! Congratulations.
Congratulations!
I’ll be hunting in that area soon……..never seen Amish but Mennonite’s own good hunting land in the area.
“ Pat may have tried Nick Muche’s trick and attempted to kill that badger with a shovel. But lost instead”
There are two things you must know about killing a badger with a shovel.. First, it’s going to take more than one swing. Second, after the first you’re committed!”
Nice looking buck, Pat!
This whole thread should vanish. Stupid!
Great buck congrats! Congrats to Matt as well. I would never have guessed 170 from the pic.
Oh yea of little faith !
Great buck Pat ! Pity it had to end in one day, but I’d take it !
Nice buck pat! We definitely didn’t get our moneys worth on those hunt story! Lol
The Kansas Livestock Hunt is always a classic on Bowsite. If Pat's happy, so am I. My hunting ethics don’t matter to anyone but me. If it’s legal, and satisfies you, go for it.
Matt
Pat, what time were the deer moving in the morning hours? Daybreak or midmorning?
NICE BUCK, way cool, many CONGRATS!!!
Even though he was scraping, he didn't seem real interested in those does, kinda make ya wonder how hard he rutting....
Very nice bucks there- Congrats to you hunters.
Now hoping the 3rd hunter scores as well.
Tks for sharing with us.
Congrats Pat!
Nice comment Grey. A$$hat.
I knew it was coming, just a matter of time.
Grey Goatass, why even comment then? What a G Bag…
Congrats Pat!!! What a great buck and great shot.
From purely a logistical standpoint I’m curious how much bait a site like that would go through. There was a lot of deer plus coons and badgers! Gotta be half ways as bad as keeping a bear bait stocked! Did they say how much a spot like that goes through and how often they stock it? How did you not get busted with that many deer around did none of them go downwind? That’s gotta be hairy just thinking something could get behind you at any moment…it’s own batch of challenges. Thanks for sharing
Wow nice buck Pat!
Congrats!!!
Congratulations Pat... good buck.
Beautiful deer! Hope you get rid of some of these guys!
congrats! I really like the interaction of the racoons
GG - " My hunting ethics don’t matter to anyone but me."
Just thought it was worth repeating.
Great shot Pat.
GG when your out catching those fish in the sea you really shouldn't use any bait or lures. Its just not very ethical.
Pat
VERY nice buck ! Congratulations. Hope the last hunter is successful too
Ghey Ghost, maybe it was your projection of your ethics that drove that young man you mentored out of your life. Maybe ponder that it may have been more you then him.
Great Buck Pat, any rumblings of CWD and EHD in that neck of the woods? I've heard other parts of Kansas are getting hit hard.
Nice deer Pat, congrats. Which direction did he run?...what organs did you hit?....and how long did you wait in the tree after the shot? Just asking for a friend, a PM will suffice :)
Nice shot! Love those raccoons getting their fill of corn too!
Very nice buck Pat! You headed back East to catch the Ohio Rut?
Once again Grey Ghost can not help himself and drops a condescending comment about baiting........................give it a rest dude! ;-)
Congrats Pat! Sometimes it all just lines up!
Congrats! I love a buck with a big frame like that.
Any more pics of Matt's deer?
Beautiful buck Pat, and great shooting. Congratulations. Always enjoy following along on your Kansas hunt.

Matt’s 170” buck rack
Matt’s 170” buck rack
Here’s Matt’s buck. It’s one of those racks where pics just don’t do it justice. The complete opposite of ‘ground shrinkage’
Congrats on two great bucks Pat!
Is that some mule deer influence there?
That field pic of Matt's buck and the rack pic is mind boggling.......looks so much smaller on the body? Gnarly buck for sure!
Congrats! The younger buck you saw first thing in the morning looks like it could be the offspring of Matt's buck.
A couple of beautiful bucks! Congratulations on a great hunt in Kansas!
Congrats to the hunters you got er done great looking bucks Lewis
Congrats Pat!!! What a great buck and great shot.

Congrats on the hunt!
Id have a half dozen DP traps at each bait site
Congrats Pat. I would’ve never guessed your buddies buck would go 170”. Pictures must not do it justice.
Congrats, guys! Great bucks!
Congrats on a great buck buddy!
jmiller - "Nice shot! Love those raccoons getting their fill of corn too!"
I noticed the racoons too, they were setting on their butts like seating at a dinner table, reminded me of the geico raccoon commercial, best commercial ever...8^)
its amazing how you do it year after year there! Well done.
Hey guys, Matt here - the guy hunting with Pat. To be honest, I hoped my buck would go 155. I was shocked when we scored him. The mass, trash, and G1’s made all the difference in his gross score. Appreciate the encouraging comments. I have been super blessed to hunt with Pat the last five years and have learned exponentially! Wish everyone had the opportunity. I will also tell you that Rob Nye (Saskatchewan) and Kent Jarnagin are top shelf!
Great bucks guys. Congrats!

Pat I believe a couple years ago you talked about them using corn not as much as an main attractant, but it’s a way to keep the deer there and get position for a good shot
These are set up in area where they would already be feeding or transitioning through.
Is that recollection accurate and if so would you say that that’s still the practice and Intent with the outfitter.
Congrats to you both on two great deer!
Congrats ..I’ll agree the skull cap on the floor pics don’t do it justice if it’s a 170
Beauty of a buck, Pat! Congrats to all!

awesome bucks. Cant believe they come into the corn during daylight?
There’s crops all around us so the bait just gives them a chance to get a quick bite before heading to the big Ag fields. It definitely improves the chances of getting a shot, but those deer are there regardless. They are probably 85% shot opportunity for PY bucks, without bait I’m sure it would be 1/2 that rate. It definitely improves success rates but we’ve all agreed, every one of us would still book that hunt even if baiting was outlawed.
Thanks for the response. Makes total sense. They have it figured out for sure. Have it down to a science.
Did the 3rd guy not get a deer?
“… but we’ve all agreed, every one of us would still book that hunt even if baiting was outlawed.”
That’s like being a billionaire and complaining you don’t pay enough federal income tax. You can always send in more $$s. Just like you can ask the outfitter not to bait.
Congratulations Pat
Great buck!
After your last hunt you were probably ready for some big buck action!
Congratulations Pat! That's a beauty!
Pat,so sorry for all the comments on your Kansas deer hunt.I hunted SE Kansas, and with the hot temps it was a tough hunt.I was looking forward to how your hunt played out,but i understand your not posting with all the "keyboard cowboys" comments.Cliff
Congrats to you both! Some great bucks. We judge each other way too much on here, but I bet Pat can tune out the noise. Whatever trips your trigger is good enough for me!
Did I miss something? I saw a pic of Matt's buck (awesome deer btw!), but not Pat's buck. Several people congratulating him though.
Cat…..go to Pat’s link in his first post to see his hunt on video and hero shots, as well.
Excellent shot on that buck. Congratulations on a fine deer.
Here you go. Super buck. Grossed 157 and nets 145.
I don’t care about the baiting comments. Guys are entitled to their opinions. I’ve been doing this a long time and it wouldn’t be a Kansas live hunt without the baiting remarks. ;-)
Congrats Gents!
Two great bucks!!
Mark
Awesome Bucks!! The waiting list to book a hunt Cimarron River Outfitters must be a least 20 years.
