Looking for any advice on how to quiet the metal on stands. Plastic dip or rubber dips? Which ones? Kdo they last? Any info would be great.

One thing I do is put foam pipe insulation on the metal railings.

depends on the source of the noise. Find it deal with it. are you trying to eliminate a joint squeak, the sounds of feet shuffling on a grate, A chain hitting side, grippers rubbing against the tree, seat pad rubbing on seat, etc.
each source requires a different solution.

Buy cast stands like LW, XOP etc.

Listen to APauls. Our hunting group bought a bunch of steel ladder stands to put on our lease. I won't hunt out of them because you can't move w/o them making noise. I haul my Lone Wolf out with me and set up and hunt.

an extra ratchet strap really helps. One thing I have noticed is any stand that has a back the same width as the stand base will cause torque resulting in noise. Its hard to explain but most stands the cables are wider in front and narrower closer to the tree. This forms a triangle of support. I have a few stands like an old API Grand Stand and Loggy Bayou used to be another one. The cables go straight back and are the same width in front of the stand as by the tree. This will cause the back to twist as you shift weight. In this situation a ratchet strap at the top and at the bottom of the back will prevent that twist.

Wrap connections of pieces with vet wrap. Put carpet squares on platforms. Extra ratchet strap on hang ons or on ladder part of stand. Tape seats in place if web seat.

Extra straps to anchor it from any movement, carpet on the base.
I know a guy who thought he had squeaky stands, turned out it was one of his replacement hips. Squeaked every time he stood up. Also thought it was his squeaky boots, and even the bed frame at home. Nope, it twas them damn hips. Resolved itself over time but sure was eiree...

When it’s really cold we put an 18” by 18” carpet on the base.

Yep I agree. My treestand noise days ended the day I acquired my “Silent Partner”. Subsequently sold all my old noisy stands & stix on FB Marketplace. Didn’t even want those for backups, lol.

LB shooter… I am a big fan of “vet wrap”. They make in various colors and sticks to itself and is easy to remove if needed. Is a soft rubber type wrap. I use on my rifles for hunting in different conditions.

Zim so true. Your backup is only backup until it is your primary...and that's when you're ticked about the quality all over again lol.

My LW is so much quieter that even when I run into the occasional branched tree that requires stix, I still just carry my climber up, then install onto tree once up there. It’s easier to mount than my old fixed stands.

Last summer when I learned LW & XOP suspended their climber manufacturing, I went on FB Marketplace and bought a pile of Assaults and a few Combo II’s as well. Cheap too $200-$250 can’t lose. Not taking any chances.
