With more than 100 instances of paying resident vs nonresident fees, not to mention being able to hunt elk and deer every year OTC, $35K isn’t nearly painful enough. Too bad he’s not facing jail time and being a convicted felon for grand larceny, fraud, or something along those lines.
Article says “Wyoming, and 48 other states participate in the interstate wildlife violator compact.” I wonder which state doesn’t belong. Douche should lose all his privileges for life.

Man should brought to Wyoming for a proper tarring and feathering. Did his family accomplices share in the pain? Seems they would liable as well. A commercial operator should have some additional fiscal responsibility like any money he earned doing this?
The system is wrong. If he was on fed.ground he has just as much right to hunt there for same price as anyone. We are USA citizen and all pay fed taxes. To keep fed. ground federal. Otherwise they would sale it off. So yes he does Owen it just like everyone else paying taxes..
The game animals are owned by the state so they decide who pays for what.

Yeah Bigdog they got it right, our system is fine. You have the right to recreate on federal lands, hunting is regulated by the states.

But this case made me think about state “residency”...................... What about folks who own property in 2 different states and spend part of the time in both states depending on the time of year? I know many people who live in Pa in the Summer and Fla in the Winter. How would you determine which one was your “Primary” residence? Now, I’m not talking about having a CABIN in Wyoming and a house in Fla (or another state). I am talking about having 2 houses in different states and spending half the year in one, and the other half of the year in the other? How would that work?
You can only be a resident in one state, no matter how many states you own houses in. I guess you also missed the part where you have to live in Wyoming for 12 consecutive months to get your residency

Wyoming is very specific about what determines whether you’re a resident or not, including if someone spends time elsewhere.

The state you vote in, pay taxes in & have drivers lic in is your place of residency is a few rules I see.
From the Wyoming Game and Fish website. It should go without saying, but apparently some need it said. Federal land can be utilized by everyone equally regardless of state residency. However, the animals and fish that reside in and on that federal land are managed by that state. Doesn’t matter which state that federal land is located, everyone must abide by the game and fish regulations set by that state. Pretty simple.
If people can identify as furries then I can surely identify as a Wyoming resident :)
Had a friend who got in trouble. Moved in the summer and wasn't a resident of his old state or new state when Fall came.

When I moved back to CO, I stopped a to buy a NR small game license (indicating my CO address) almost as soon as I hit the border! It was in August and there was no way I was going to buy non-res deer and Elk tags 2 years in a row.
Also went to the DMV and got my CO DL the next day (I had plans to head back to school the next Fall, too, and if you think NR hunting licenses are expensive, you should see what it does to your tuition….).
Anyway, I figured if I had two state-issued documents with the CO permanent address on them and the issue date was before the season/school year opened, I’d be covered.
I did end up paying non- resident rates on deer licenses in two states that year; them’s the rules.
We will see more of this as there are quite a few guys who have done this in many different states. It will come to head several more times through the next several years. Sad part is, many who have done this for years are now dead or not hunting anymore so it'll just be let go.

Maybe because I value my hunting experiences in Wyoming when I do draw. I don’t know how he could feel good about any tag/hunt that he did. I guess cheaters don’t have a conscience.

I don't know why I even try to explain to people like you because most of time you just don't have a clue or want to have a clue. The ground the wildlife is on has nothing to do with it. The STATES manage the wild life for the residents of the state. So basically the wild life is owned by the state that it is in. So, the state can give anyone or restrict anyone from hunting the STATE owned wildlife as it sees fit. NON residents are not restricted from using the federal lands in any way. You just have to pay a higher fee to have the privilege to hunt the STATES wildlife. By your reasoning I should be able to hunt or let anyone hunt what I want when I want on my private property.

Wyobullshoot, your statement is not entirely correct. Subsistence board does a good job of screwing everything up on fed lands in ak in contradiction to state regs.
So did he own a home in WY? Or was it just he didn't get his DL in WY?
