If you’ve never read the book Alaska’s Wolf Man, you should. It’s an excellent read.

If you’ve ever been to Alaska you will recognize many areas and places mentioned.

In the 40s, he even came down to Walden Colorado and poisoned wolves for the Govt.

“For forty years Frank Glaser trekked across wilderness Alaska on Foot, by wolf-dog team, and eventually by airplane. In his career he was a market hunter, trapper, roadhouse owner, professional dog team musher, and a federal predator agent. He was a legend in his own time, respected and admired for his sill as a woodsman and hunter by fellow sourdoughs and by his many Eskimo friends.”

Have the book at our Lisa Lake cabin where we moose hunt. Although, to my knowledge, there is no relation, the pilot who flies us into the lake is Don Glaser. Don is over 90 years old and is still flying us to the cabin. Must be something with the name Glaser.

Also had the privilege of meeting the man and appraising the property Dick Proenneke wrote about and lived at for the book One Man’s Wilderness at Twin Lakes. He has since passed too, but it was a privilege to meet him especially after reading the book.

Another good read (IMHO), "Nine Years Among The Indians". A true account of a kid being captured and raise by the Indians for nine years.
