My son Blaine did it again with his osage longbow in Iowa and with some pretty awesome footage on this hunt as well.
It’s 12 minutes long and really gives a good glimpse into how good an early hunt can be. I hope you enjoy it if you have the time to watch it.
The first few minutes show the quality of the cinematography and production. Very impressive and thanks for sharing!
Great video and congrats on the nice gobbler you shot.
Wow! Extremely well done video! Congrats on a great bird, Blaine, especially with the longbow!
Loved the no-tail ringtail, too! I trapped one of them this past winter. First one I’d ever seen.
Really well done, well spent 12 minutes! Congrats
The slo mo replays were great!
Great video.. congratulations Blaine.
Great video, great shot, great tom! Thanks for sharing!
Awesome video! Man he’s good!
This kid has hunted turkeys in a previous life! I mean this video has it all... great narration, scenery, wonderful filming and a great shot for the cherry on top... by far best hunt I have watched, amateur or professional. scentman
Blaine, that is wonderful-----all of it from start to finish. My best, Paul
well done. i really enjoyed it.
i saw the bow was an appalachian flatbow. those were made by dave guthrie if i remember correctly. it was one of my first stickbows decades ago. it was too much draw weight though and i sold it. i think mine had red elm limbs.
Fantastic video congrats!
Great video and shot. Thanks for sharing your hunt.
Thank you all for the kind words! There aren’t many things I would rather be doing in this world than hunting turkeys with a longbow.
Ron, that is very interesting! Dave makes a heck of a bow. I’ve tried shooting a few other stick bows over the last few years, but there is something special about that particular piece of Osage that keeps calling me back.
Thank you to everyone that took the time to watch my video, I really appreciate it.

Why is Osage orange good for bows? Osage Orange wood is renowned for its use in crafting Cherokee bows. Characterized by hard, dense, and tight graining, it is not an easy wood to carve, but affords itself to strong, fast, and durable bows.
Great video! Thanks for sharing.
T-Roy, that was the first one I had ever seen as well. Makes me wonder what that raccoons story is.
Great shot....great video, Blaine! Liked and subscribed!
Very nicely done, congratulations
Nicely done young man, you've got skills!
Incredible footage, nice production...well done!
Great all the way around!
Congrats on a great hunt and thanks for taking the time to video it all and post it here.
Well done. Excellent work all around.
Excellent and extremely well done.
That’s awesome, thanks for sharing it!
Great video! Congratulations
Really well done! Love turkey hunting in Iowa. Been a couple years, maybe I should plan for next year. Killed my best Eastern there with a recurve. Last one was with a 20ga flintlock; that was a hoot.
Great video! Congrats and thanks for sharing!!
Great work … congratulations
Congratulations on an exceptional turkey hunt! This is "hands down" the best turkey video that I have seen!
I hope you continue filming your hunts, and I'm looking forward to them. Excellent choice of archery equipment! As a longtime traditional archer I know the challenges we face with our bows.
Again, congrats on an outstanding job!
Bernie
Congratulations! And that was some nice footage too.
Well done. Good job editing. Enjoyed watching.
