Where to aim

I'm reading a lot of conflicting information on where the bears vitals actually are. some say they sit further back than an ungulate. I just looked at a model today that showed the heart/lung area about the same as a deer.
Do you just aim for the crease, or a little further back?

I've killed 3, all them were close and I aim right up the back leg center mass top to bottom. They all died in less than 50 yards. I find picking a spot on a bear much more difficult than and deer or elk. They are a big black blob, because of there color and hair and many time low light picking a can be a challenge.

Aim back a bit as compared to a deer. I personally would not pick the crease as an aiming point, would want to be 4” or so back.

You can look at 10 diff vital diagrams, and they all look different.

I think BowBoy has The Resource on that one….
Oddly enough, I’ve seen some very bad examples of where people have photoshopped a picture of the Insides over a pic of the Outsides and have gotten everything ALL Wrong, but this one looks like they put actual effort into it….

No need to crowd the shoulder on a bear. I use the MOM method … middle of middle, then sneak forward a few inches. Never had one run out of sight….

I’ve bow killed a lot of black bears and witnessed closed to a hundred more. Go up the front leg and back four to six inches and in the middle top to bottom.
Very few shot this way with a big broadhead went more than forty yards.
Stay away from the leg bone and shoulder. Unless you really like long tracking jobs on wounded bears, that often come up empty.

JohnMC, we knew what you meant….but you may want to edit your poop chute comment- grin
I do think you nailed it on bears about picking a spot on them with that black blob comment.
