Hanging Cams this weekend

I have 8 cams ready to deploy this year. I am gonna hang 2 or 3 tomorrow in my hunting area to get an early peek. Will hang the others later this month, maybe July. Patterns will change alot up there over the summer I am sure. But I love hanging cams and catching critters on film. I know I am not alone. Who else is nearly as goofy passionate about hanging game cams for critter pics well before season as they are about the actual hunt? For me the real joy is in all the prep and anticipation...then hunt arriving just means its almost over again for a year.............sob
I will redeploy them later in August as I see the patterns emerge and start to lock down stand and ambush locations for the hunt and who is using those areas.
Nice. Last year was my first time ever hanging a camera. I think I’m going to grab a few this year and put em up just for $h!ts and grins. Probably won’t do it until beginning of August.

Have fun Jordan. I’ve done what LUNG$HOT is thinking of doing for years, although I only hang one. I don’t use it to pattern or target any specific animal, I just love seeing what shows up. I get lots of elk, but I also get moose, deer, bear, etc. Love seeing them all!

I like using them more for great turkey strutting pictures more then anything. I have them on private and public for deer though. I love seeing the antlers grow spring through September then I take them down.
Trail cams are fun. Almost like trapping. You never know what you’re gonna catch.
I have some at my Wyo cabin. Nice to see the visitors when I’m not there

When one’s head is so enlarged, one tends to forget that some people enjoy pics of wildlife and the interaction of same. One has to wonder how that enlarged head gets so far up his ass.
I've never had much luck finding elk in the same place june and September. The elk we hunt move alot.
These bucks will leave my place as soon as they shed their velvet most likely. But….in the meantime I’ll get to watch them grow and watch the mommas bring their fawns around when they get big enough. Oh, and this ain’t “baiting”, this is “supplemental feeding”. ;-))
Drycreek- you nailed it! Moral superiority must be nice! I live way too much of a life of sin to know what that is about though- I enjoy trailcams and other fun things that make me a terrible person.
Cell connected game cam is for richy rich kids...not this poor mofo. IF I had my own property I'd sure as hell have them to keep watch for trespassers but not to have a live view of a hunting spot.
Took my wife and daughter up to WY today and tried to get back to elk camp. Direct route was blocked about 2-3 miles short of camp by a HUGE snow bank over the road. 5' high and easily 14' of road covered side to side.....and back up into the woods as far as you can see. Beyond were trees down all over. So turned around and tried the other route. Ran into more snow banks...but passable....then a tree I could not get past and had no saw. It was WET up there......soaked. Rivers and creeks overflowed. Lots of elk tracks in the muddy road. Going back next weekend with the 5th wheel to camp over by the white cliffs just off I-80....wasn't soaked there and no snow or trees to contend with. Just an awesome view of Elk Mtn.
I too have never bought any of those Cell T-cams.
I've never used a T-cam on the mountain, mainly at camp for some type of security pix if some POS steals from me and I use them here @ home for the same reason.
I'm still using my Primos 35's... they still work but have a bit of a rugged look after all these years.

Net net cameras keep more guys out of the woods than put them in it. Good for you for getting out there and working for the intel
Scouting is a thing of the past for many.
I have three cell cams, one on a food plot, to monitor, not only deer useage, but growth of the plot. Another is on a protein feeder, which is empty during hunting season. Another is on a hog trap, to let me know when the pigs are in it and the gate is down. There’s nothing nefarious about any of them, and I don’t use them to hunt with. I don’t need to. You mind readers that assign your own ideas to people you don’t even know need to get another hobby.

Not being a mind reader but saying keep it legal. I think cams are cool, they do just kind of take some of the work out of hunting, it can just become taking. If that is what is most important to you then by all means use all you can to your advantage within your state's game laws.
HA! Everyone on here (me too at times) takes on the judgy mcjudgerson role. Water off a dux back...who gives a fork?! I love using my game cams. I could give a rat's infected arse what anyone thinks about that (so long as its legal of course)but I sure hope folks enjoy the resulting pics as much as I do. That is all. Carry on with beating each other up. LOL

Some guys come on forums and ask where should I go. We tell them get out there and put boots on the ground. Jordan tells us about multiple trips planned to his out of state unit, scouting, and hanging cams. He gets told stay out, you’re taking the work out of it? Dammed no matter what you do.

I have a few trail cams that I leave out all year long. Honestly, they help little or not at all in my hunting success. But I enjoy seeing what’s out there, deer, bears, coyotes……
Do yourself a favor and buy 16 inch Dewalt battery operated chainsaw great thing to keep in the truck

In Wyoming, you can use trail cameras for hunting big game animals or trophy animals, including deer and moose. If you’re not hunting but want to watch wildlife on your property or enjoy outdoor photography, trail cameras are also permissible. Here are the key regulations:
Usage During Big Game Seasons: Trail cameras may be used during archery, muzzleloader, rifle, and general hunting seasons. However, no electronic devices can be used during these seasons. Remember that the camera cannot be set up before the season starts or after it ends. For instance, if you’re using a trail camera for an August archery hunt, it must be removed by midnight on September 1st. No Presence When Activated: You cannot be present at the camera site when it activates, except if you’re hunting big game with dogs during open season and your dogs find the animal. In that case, you can remotely activate your trail cam.
Technology Limitations: You can use a digital or video camera as long as it does NOT have cellular technology or Wi-Fi capabilities. Transmitting images over cell phone networks or wireless internet is not allowed. Remember to remove your camera after the hunting season, avoid private property in the shot, and follow these guidelines to enjoy trail camera use in Wyoming! ????1.

Thanks Robb. I always check the regs but good to see a reminder from another person's persective.
I plan to be back in the area this Thurs/Friday and camp where I took the pic of Elk Mtn for the weekend and next week....will have my starlink to work remote when I have to work.....and for my wife to work. Will have my chainsaw and do some more exploring the FS roads to see if I can get past the snow and into my spot to hang a few cams for early pics of critters. Maybe scope out potential tree stand sites. Who knows.....just relax and enjoy the place! Now that has me excited.
Oh and Brad....I've yet to catch an elk in this area anywhere close to that pig......270's at the most and a bunch smaller. That one looks like a slightly better than average Unit 20 bull. But I don't care....any elk is a trophy and a treasure in meat and the experience. Hell....tag soup has been worth the experience many, many, many....oh hell....like 16 freaking times or something. LOL
