I’ve always used the cheap brown jersey gloves for bow hunting, but my hands tend to freeze in those. Anyone using wool glove liners for hunting? If so what brands do you prefer? I hate bulky gloves so want something lightweight with dexterity. Suggestions appreciated!

In cold weather, around 25 degrees and below, I wear a mid weight wool "tracker" glove on my left hand a Sitka Fanatic glove on my right hand.

I like the light UA gloves, not super warm but dry fast.

(And look at 'mitten shells' to wear over liners, when you don't need dexterity.)

Man, this thread reminds me of how much I miss the old school Morris Feel Gloves. Loved those style wool gloves. Wore out several pairs grouse hunting n stuff.

Yep. Military surplus wool liners.

Damn Buskill that brings back memories I also wore some out hunting grouse in Tennessee Lewis

Get a hand muff like the QBs use. I stopped wearing gloves once I got one of them.

Hand muff all the way. Get a good one. Mine is a Ice Breaker, also has a zipper front for minor items. Add hand warmer, game over. My travel glove is military liner.

I looked on Amazon lot of different brands of “Green military wool liners” come up. Any specific brand you all like? A link on Amazon would be awesome.

30-Dec-24
I use MERIWOOL liners I got on Amazon. I have two pairs, one in small and one in medium that I wear over the smalls (they stretch out, so get a size smaller for your base layer than you would usually wear). They're cheap and really warm. And they slide into something bigger easily.

Not Amazon. But, eBay.

FWIW, I tried Meriwool socks. I’ve worn two pair so far. Both had holes in them in the evening when taking them off. Not knocking their quality. Just a heads up.

Best I've found so far are simple smokers mitts the flip kind where they are all wool. Find em at Walmart etc. Some are wool some aren't so you need to watch close. Made by that standard brand Therms-something.

Glomitts, with modifications, I put a fleece pocket for dry chemical heaters inside the finger cover to lay on the back of my fingers as the hood is over them. I've also added another flap to the pocke to prevent the chemical heater from slipping out. My tab is inside the hood in place when the fingers are covered.

“looked on Amazon lot of different brands of “Green military wool liners” come up. Any specific brand you all like? A link on Amazon would be awesome.“

The OG military wool blends will have a white number on the glove. 4-5-6 etc. those are the ones I always buy. The others are knock offs of the knockoffs.

I use military surplus fingerless wool gloves, and I'll use Icebreaker merino wool liner gloves inside the fingerless gloves on the coldest days. Works well with my tab to shoot my recurve bow.

I need the warmth level of glomits with a heat pack.

These are “Hot shot” brand; I have hunted with these using both a tab and a release — no problems with either, or with either hand. Lycra liners just don’t get in the way of anything.

When it’s not as cold, I like windstopper fleece fingerless gloves on my draw hand, but a heated muff (or just a heat pack in a pants pocket) is great for your bow hand if you can keep your hand in there ‘til the last minute…. I really don’t like having anything substantial on the palm of my bow hand. It’s easier with let-off, but with a stickbow, it screws me all up….

So you have lots of options, but cotton just SUCKS.

Toasty toes are hand warmer on back of hands inside of glove. Warms hands if you leave them on. Then in really cold a hand muff around waist with warmers in them

I use the first lite fingerless wool gloves all season. When it gets cold, I add in a hand muff. Real cold and I add heat.

I need to check out the military surplus gloves.

I've been really happy with these the last 2 seasons. Made in USA and have lasted longer than the cheap China versions. Hand muff when it gets colder. https://foxsox.com/collections/womens-handwear/products/mid-weight-ragg-glove

Cotton gloves suck eggs when we. I use wool liners which are a little bit nicer when wet.

But best of all is having a small towel to dry my hands, and then inserting them into a handwarmer muff with a couple 'hot hands' going in the front poacket.
