Had tried to stalk this herd of javelina several times and failed in the thick brush (over a few days). I noticed that late each morning they always worked their way into the same thick ravine (wash). I figured they were just bedding there, but found out they were digging in the sand and getting water. The next day, when I glassed them up and they started down the mountain to the wash, I set up an ambush. I let the first few alone, and waited for a larger one. Took one shot at about 7 yards and it went a short distance and let out a death moan. I hadn't heard a javelina do this before.
