This was my first attempt at Bow fishing. I was invited by my friends John Collier and his son-in-law Neil Blair to the Northern California Coast, Point Reyes National SeaShore at Tomales Bay. We were out early in the AM on Johns 17 foot boat. John had built a platform which was attached to the bow of the boat. John and Neil were good at spotting these grey ghosts and were both connecting to bag their limit early. I, on the other hand, was having trouble adjusting to the refraction of the water and missed a considerable number of sharks. Finally I spotted a nice one at around 20 yards and connected with a vital hit. He twisted in a death roll and headed for the sandy bottom of the shallow water. He was dug in as I reeled in the excess line and John trolled the boat toward our prey. Neil helped pull the shark out of the sand with a few tugs on the line. He then gaffed the shark into the boat and I had my first bow fish
