This buck was shot at by a muzzleloader hunter just minutes before it reached my stand. I heard the shot and then the deer ran near my stand. I could see a small amount of blood on his leg. Wanting to put the deer down as soon as possible, I took the 38 yard shot, which is longer than I typically like to take. The muzzleloader hunter came by shortly after I shot. Before we went to look for the deer we agreed that whomever inflicted the killing shot would get the deer. Upon reaching the deer, it was clear the bullet had only grazed the brisket. The other hunter was very gracious and left to find another one. This was my biggest buck to date!
