I have had a great season so far this year. Took my 4th deer, a nice doe. Walked into my private land spot in East Haddam. At 2:15 pm, I set up in a new area of the property after seeing 5 trails all within 40 yards. At 3:30, I saw a spike working a scrape. He came to within 15 yards and rubbed some trees. I fooled around with him, calling to him, and he stayed almost an hour, until 4:20, when I noticed 2 large does heading my way. The does froze at 12 yards when they saw the spike, and I put an arrow through the shoulder of the closest one. She ran over the hill. I stayed until 4:44(sunset), hoping to see a good buck, but only saw one more doe. I then tracked and found her in a swamp. It's great to get my 3rd doe(I earn a buck tag now)!
