Finally got myself out to hunt the January season. I got in Late, about 2pm in Lyme. As I was getting ready to walk in I had at least 4 deer run onto the property from across the street. They ran towards where I was going to setup my climber. So I setup closer behind some Hemlock trees to hide my ascent up the tree. Just before dark I had deer work their way down to my stand, and took the first one that came through, seeing it was getting very dark with the overcast/snowing conditions. The deer was 10 yards at the shot and only ran about 20 yards.... Ended up being a button buck...Boy they are fat this year. Wish I had held out for the bigger does following. But we have a little more meat for the freezer!
