Spent the last day of the season stalking and bugling a number of large bulls near camp. After several hours I had followed them into an area I was not familiar, and they bedded down at various locations within about a half mile circle. I went back to camp and looked at my maps. I found a water hole in the middle of the area, and made a ground blind for the evening. The first bull that came in was very non-typical, but not particularly large. A short time later my bull came across a very large meadow in the mid to late afternoon, alone, and bugling constantly. I shot him when came to the tank. Long recovery!
