This was our first response for the morning. The elk ran with his cows from us at first, then when we caught back up with him, we cow called, and he came in like a love sick puppy looking for his girl friend. He stopped at 12 yards, but there was no shot, he spooked and ran and when I cow called back at him again, he stopped at 30 yards. I shot through his shoulder blade. He ran about 75 yards and stood there, then fell over. I killed him at 7:30 am.
