I was hunting a ridge line that had a group of White oaks dropping acorns on top. There were two beech trees within 10 yards of the oaks that had two fresh scrapes under each tree. Wind was right so I gave it a go. I was in the tree at 12 noon and planned to sit until dark, which was about 7pm. Long day in hot heat, but heck, this is early season bowhunting! At 5pm I heard deer running up a draw that tops out on the ridge I was set up on. Looked down and saw a spike being followed by a 4 point. They were coming up the draw and would pass by within shooting range. About 20 yards behind them was this 8 point. He followed them by the beech trees and then decided to stop and munch acorns at 18 steps from my tree. The rest is history. Details about Stephen Mercer 's huntHunt DetailsDate Killed - 10/06/2004
