Good luck, always one of my favorite weeks of the year on Bowsite.
Good luck and hey to Jake!
Kill a NON-TYPICAL. That's what I want to see you shoot. A big ole knarly looking thing with points everywhere. Oh and make sure it has at least 1 droptine!
I'm with Rupe...let's see an old gnarly buck on the ground from Kansas!
Pat yall need to take some pics of the surrounding shooting lanes and stand areas, it would add realism and definition to your story! Mike
Best of luck. As you know, you are in an excellant area. I killed a nice buck last year just to the SE of you in Comanche County.
Tell MedicineMan Jake his "Fairbanks Taxi Driver and Inn Keeper" is counting on him to shoot a big one!
Pete
You guys should have a ball. You need to hide Jake's golden horseshoe and threaten to not give it back until he starts posting regularly again. Good luck!
Pat--got this one on trail cam a few nights ago...Hopefully Paul or I will get a crack at him..good luck to you guys...Big bucks are just now get`n active..good timing
Let me see you with one of these cheesy grins...
Good luck!!!!
Wonder if the golden horseshoe made the trip. If it did, I hope Pat gets a picture of it. Good luck guys. Looks like good timing for this year.
Good luck guys!!!! Looks like the weather is going to be great out there this weekend!! We will be hunting not far from you, we will be just south of Coldwater.
Give'm hell guys!! Have a great hunt!
"Wonder if the golden horseshoe made the trip. If it did, I hope Pat gets a picture of it."
...unless Jake is carrying it in the same location as reported in the past. ;^)
Timing should be great! Just got back from Kansas today, wish I could have stayed a couple more. Did not tqake a buck saw a few monsters but no shots. Clutch took a VERY nice 8pt. Weather was NOT good should be better by the weekend. Good Luck to both you and Jake!
Will the outfitter allow you to shoot feral hogs?
Pat,
May the bucks be large and the bait piles plentiful.
;-)
GG
6 day hunt
middle of rut
$4,000
consider packing a lunch and staying in stand all day assuming stand will work for both AM and PM
Pat--Tim and I had a pretty tough hunt in Kansas due to the out of the ordinary warm temps--the mature bucks weren't moving and the young bucks were chasing a little--we hunted till noon and returned for a 1.5 hour break and went back out--on the fifth day a cool snap rolled in--I decided to used a ground blind and cut cedar branches to blend in--there weren't any trees large enough to hang a stand--I had seen several deer travel thru here from another stand I was on--after I set it up, 3 hours later this nice 8pt came thru--150 2/8 P&Y--I was pleased considering that was the first mature buck I saw from my stand in 5 days--Best of Luck Pat and Jake--tag a monster
bull blind with cedar trimmings--didn't have time for X-mas tree lights
Congratulations to Jake on a great buck. He has now taken a P&Y caliber buck for sure. I hope he will share the details of his hunt.
Am I reading this correct, 93 pound draw weight? Why?
Cause some guys can - I had a buddy who shot 100 and 110 lb.
I couldn't do that unless I used my feet!
Looks like things are bit slow.
I get addicted to these hunts. Love to follow along...
Congratulations on the buck, Jake. I guess the horseshoe still has the magic!
Way to go Jake! Congrats!
Cool Jake! Congrats buddy!
He's a killer. All he needs is to see a green light. That one's gonna bump something off the wall I bet. =D
Great buck Jake! Congratulations!!
Congrats Jake! Can't wait to here the story!
Way to go Jake, Congratulations!
great job jake. why is it even when you were not seeing anything we all knew when a good one went down it would be to your arrow.
DJ.... good point!! Congrats Jake. Hope the others have luck soon!
Congrats to Jake! I think he is going to Africa so the 93lbs will come in handy! Mike
Way to go Jake.
Sharpstick
GREAT !!!! Glad to see Jake got his buck good luck to Pat & Ron !!!
Ned, apparently Jake got 'er done without the golden hardware.
Way to go Jake!! Glad you added another species to the wild game dinner. And in the spring you will have pork.
Chip
Congrats to Jake! Wow- 93 lbs?! Musta been like shootin' a rabbit with an elephant gun! ;-)
Keep huntin' hard, Pat and Ron!
Way to go Jake I hope you get back on here and start posting!
Jake, congrats on one of many many fine trophies. I really hope you will tell us all about the hunt as well as your other hunts this fall. Hopefully the rest of the team will tag out soon.
You the man Jake! I knew that you would get a nice buck. What does it score. Lets have the details.
Jake great job I got your PM sent you one back...
going to bowhunt on my land next week if you want to join me?? I do have to come home for Thanksgiving but I will be back friday Sat and Sun. The next week is our shotgun season so that is out. but if you want to join me let me know???
Pat, Did you get a chance to get any footage of the buck fights you described from Sunday 11/15 afternoon's hunt? If so, do you plan to include or share a short segment of it for those of us following along to see? Thanks, -CB-
OH FOR CRYING OUT LOUD SHOOT SOMETHING, PAT!
Pat, put the video up of the bobcat and the "forky"! I'd love to see that!
Congratulations Jake! Would like to hear your take on the hunt also. Great buck!
The bobcat would have made my trip. We don't see many (any) of those here in NW Ohio. Way cool! MO
pat's patience is well founded given what he has taken in the past, given that he normally goes back in december if november is dry, and given there is a $1,000 fee on anything killed.
Nicely done, Jake. I want to hear more of Jake's hunt. Pat, I am floored by the bucks you have on still shots. I look forward to seeing the video footage.
Shhhhh...Pat's in his stand.
So I guess that means he didn't kill one this am???
Excellent job Jake,
I would love to see the cat video as well, sounds awesome. I had a huge MN cat under my rifle stand for at least 20 minutes last weekend, it was awesome and there will be a couple traps there in less than 2 weeks!
michael
Mn_archer - Either that or he's bluffing, and he has already tagged and is sitting in a recliner at the lodge, or that he is relaxing in a stand observing without a bow so he can search the internet on his phone!
Oh boy... that's a good sign!
is this another aircraft rental situation?
sounds like a snake got up the tree...
Do you guys think that bobcat got a little frisky with old Pat?
I bet he said... "you sure got a pretty bow Mr. L!"
You should pick up a furharvesters license and wack that cat, just call him in. They are awesome trophies!
michael
Temps must have dropped...lol
Why do you do this to me????
I wonder how many people are on the kansas live hunt page hitting the refresh button every 2 minutes right now.
not me, I don't wait 2 minutes!
michael
haha i'm gonna go do some paperwork to kill about 1/2 hour. The suspense is killing me. I haven't hunted in 2 weeks, living vicariously or whatever.
Bou'bound,
You beat me to it. LOL!!
GG
Boy,
You fellas do not forget easily-
michael
It usually isn't update until 8:35 CST...
Dude, an hour and a half?
I seriously hope Pat nailed a monster and it fell in sight. I've seen that other one on the homepage killed a million times, time for a new Muzzy moment!
Ok, it is 9 pm Central time.... I hope this doesn't mean anything. Lets hope for short blood trails~
michael
Geez Pat...you can't do this to us.
Tick..............Tock...........Tick...............Tock
I've been breathing into a brown paper bag for the last hour.
Oooooh no, that's not acceptable...at least give us something...
that just ain't right....
Go to bed, post in the am. Are you kidding me?
Alright, see you in the am!
I'll be the first to guess...
158 4/8"!
michael
It's a giant nontypical!!!
This is just wrong. Pat you've ruined my morning routine of drinking my coffee (spiked with espresso) and reading the updates on the semi-live hunts.
Thanks, now I'm going to have "one of those days".... 8*)
BTW I'm guessing a symetricaly perfect 14 point that will shatter the current B&C WR. 8*)
I know! I know! It's a bou' that, awwwwww, never mind.... =D
hey, he started it....buffalo sweat will do that...
Jake. Make him step away from the crown royal... that'll leave a mark...
UGH!!! Here it is, 30 minutes before sunrise on a calm and crisp morning smack dab in the middle of the rut and I'm home awaiting this story instead of being perched 25 feet above a scrape the size os a 69 Volkswagon!
;o)
Just kidding... gotta get ready for work now. I hope it's a cool story about a great buck!
Totally unacceptable....seriously.
not fair! not fair!
I have to go to work!
congrats Pat. You always pull through.
Good things come to those who wait, and wait, and wait.......
Holy moly Pat,
That is a GREAT buck and an even better story, thanks for sharing!
michael
Did I miss somthing or did Pat not post what happend from the 17th yet?it's 9:08 EST Whats going on?
Mike-
You are mean...
Pat real nice buck!!!
BTW I think your a little low on 188 2/8. He looks bigger than that!
This is a very serious breach in Bowsite Live Hunt etiquette. Go to bed and I'll post in the morning. Way out of line! Drinking all those beers he won't be able to put one sentence down. We shall see what we shall see. Better be a biggie Pat!
Lol...Pat I don`t care if ya put a big story with it..let the fog rise then post us the video dag nabbit..Man I hope ya didn`t make the perfect double lung shot and he only went 30 yards...That would just be way to boring...:)
He's obviously signing deals with Realtree, Muzzy, etc.
I see where we stand.
I am not addicted. I can quit at any time...
What I heard was he is signing paperwork right now to turn over the rack to Cabelas for $60,000.
Seriously Pat post something!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Am i missing something as well, i dont see any update with any monster 188 yet???????????
Are you fellaas blind, it is right there as he posted it an hour ago. He got that big 10 point he saw early in the hunt!
michael
I think it could probably go 190"
You guys are nuts its not even close to 190". It is easy 215", you see the tine length on that thing. Its got to have aleast 30" beams!
If you guys are serious and he really did post an update with photos, then someone please post one here, because his update isn't showing up on my computer either. I refreshed my cache and everything and I still see no update from Nov. 17.
I dont think it has enough mass to carry 200 inches but it should be close.
Calm down.........They've been pulling your chain.
Post is up now. Great buck! Congrats!
Congrats. Nice Buck. Looks like you did choose the right stand.
Have I missed something? Why doesn't pat post very much video lately?
Congrats Pat. Again, I am impressed by the quality of deer CRO has.
Great deer Pat, congrats.
Congrats Pat!!! Great looking deer. Good thing you packed your "nerr" sound with you on this hunt or else he would still be walking:) Way to go Jake on a surperb tracking job. Glad that no choppers were needed from Mcdill AFB.
Congrats on a nice buck Pat--jake too..C`mon tater get`r done by gawd...
Congrats Pat!!! Nice buck!!! He's definitely been battling!!!
One of these days some scientist is going to tag a buck with one of those cameras that's catches the day in the life of a buck during the rut.
BTW Pat you totally could have had that up last night.
Boy, some of you guys are great Fishermen! LOL!!!! :)
Glad I didn;t check until now!
Congrats, Pat! But, as someone else pointed out, your live hunt etiguette is very poor. You're a bigger "tease" than some girls I knew back in High School! ;-)
GIT-ER-DUN, Tater! :)
Nice buck, Pat. I'm jealous! Seriously, congratulations on a hard-earned trophy whitetail.
Nice buck Pat. I know what its like to have to choose stands. It always seems that a person picks the wrong one. Not this time.
Com on Ron for a three-for-three!
Great buck Pat.
I am curious about the stand choices, do you guys draw for stand choices or do they let everybody just pick where they want to go or what?
Congrats on a great whitetail season!
When is Jr. going with down there?
michae
Great Buck Pat.. Say hello to dad and brother they should be arriving shortly. Stuck in the office this year. Hood
I am curious about selecting stands also. It appears with the info we get that its a hodge-podge event. really not knowing what is happening at the stands prior to you showing up. Is this a guided hunt.
Alright Pat!!! Congrats on another Kansas hunt. Now are you ready to get back to CT. and get a true New England giant?
Good luck tomorrow Ron, he'll be waiting for you!
michael
Congrats to both you and Jake....but whats with the Chuck Adams pose....
Pat did you go straight to Kansas from Canada? If so that has been a long roadtrip!
Good luck finding your buck Ron..
Great hunt Pat and a nice buck. Congratulations on another fine trophy. Send Jake home, It's still turkey season in New York.
Great bucks guys! Once again Pat, you had us all glued to our monitors. I don't think I've hit refresh that many times ever! Haha
Pat great buck! Any word from Ron?
Oh no not the daylight photo...geez pat I think you`ve aged faster than me in the last 10 years...please stick to the dark photos in the future...:)....and that smirk on your face..C`mon ya got to man up and have a "Game face" photo posted also...Lol...
DISAPPOINTED!!!!
I am extremely disappointed you did NOT shoot a Giant Non-Typical so you could show Lonnie Travis how it's done.
I guess I'll have to go next year.
Kansas Kings rock!!!!
Rupe in Kansas--lol...I know how much that would hurt your pride..he he he...from my first post at the bowsite I told you KANSAS KINGS were the only way to go and ya still haven`t ever hunted Ks...did ya see that little bruiser up higher in the post..think I`ll go shoot him tonight...:)..go to "guess the score on this one " thread and give me your guess of what he scores...cause he`s going to go down in the next 4 to 5 days...oh shoot i`ll just post him here
Nice buck Pat. Did I detect a change of BH since your elk hunt ? :)))
Pat, What is your technique in sharpening the phantom mx's?
Very nice buck Pat. Congrats!
It is incredibly difficult to pull this off year in and year out. Great job once again! Charlie
No post on Ron's deer yet, I hope that does not mean bad news?
Hey ROn, don't leave us hangin' like Pat did, OK?! ;-)
Update on Ron's deer????!!
You're KILLIN' us, Pat! :)
Congratulations on your great buck, Pat. When are you going to come to Idaho to hunt?
Well, This is Ron. I just got Home from Kansas. I left out there at 5:30pm and now its 4:15am. We pretty much covered all the CRP on foot that we could. We then called Kurt, the man with the chute plain. We never found the deer. He is undoubtedly dead some where. There was some more land to the south, that other hunters were hunting, so we didnt want to fly it and disturb thier hunting. Kent said he would search it after season. I have had a pretty good string of good shots, but my luck ran out on this one. In hindsight I would have given that deer 24hrs, I Have no doubt I would have recoverd him ,if the coyotes didnt get him up and run him out before he expired, this was my main concern, coyotes are thick out there. He didnt go 200 yds before bedding down. We had good blood up to his first bed, he was bleeding good from, both the entrance and exit hole, pooling when he would stop. We trailed him another 200yd from his bed, finding blood and chunks of fat in the trail, he just quit bleeding and that was it, for the trailing. I am sick about it, a depressing end to a good hunt.
Tater, I know you folks made a thorough effort. Smart, experienced hunters, plenty of shoe leather and a plane. Can't ask for much more.
I do not know for the life of me why game departments disallow the use of tracking dogs. Statutorily hamstringing a fellow from such measures is tantamount to wanton waste of game. The buzzards sure will track him and hopefully CRO will be able to follow up but then it is too late for the meat.
I asked the 2 Kents about the Buzzards. The Buzzards Migrate out of there during the winter. They do have a few crows. The tracking dogs being illeagal is stupid in my opinion, Kept on a leash they should pose no problem. We have recoverd alot of deer here in Arkansas with a good dog.
sorry to hear about the buck tater...I know the feeling brutha...there is always next year
Usually Kirk can track a deer down... I thought he charged NR's. Must have done it as a favor for Kentx2.
Sorry to hear you didn't find him Ron, that just sucks!!!
Congrats on the bucks gentlemen, and Tater, I've been there-this year in fact. Glad to see the effort you guys put into trying to recover him. Best wishes.
Sorry to hear that Ron, all you can do is give it your best.
michael
SOrry to hear that ROn! But kudos not only on doing everything you could to find that buck, but also on being concerned about disturbing others hunts! That shows a lot of class! :)
Sorry to hear about your Buck. the 6 hour wait is a long time but unfortunatly is about 1/2 of the time needed for the buck to die. If the shot was high in the flank like right under the spine it could be fatal that is if you cut the aorta, its as good as a double lung. but thru the paunch thats a 12 hour wait for sure. MAybe next time.
Are those stands baited with corn?
Weren't you going to post the video of the shot when you had a chance?
John can find your buck...he's in Illinois right now. I think he's found bucks in 5 states so far.
http://www.bloodtrackingdogs.com/
I just received a PM from Tater, and he said that it would be alright to share it with everyone on the forum......
Hey Jake.. Update...Kent just called, He found my buck, while out bird hunting with his dogs. Get this, it was only 50yds south of the last spec of blood! He had to be dead right there, while were walking around. Horns still good and all, just have to get a cape. Kent guesses that he will be in the low to mid 140's. Thats a relief, better than not getting him at all.. I am in Mississippi hunting along the river river right now. rutting and chasing, dinks of course lol. Catch ya later . Ron.
....I sat on a knoll (to watch for deer movement) no more than 300 yards from where Pat, Ron, and Kent J. scoured the hillside looking for that buck. They gave that area a thorough going over. At any rate, it provides an end to the story of the third buck of the hunt.....
