That condition in Bears is called "bare-faced-bear". Ha.
Probably mange or other parasite.

I've seen this on a couple bears, and don't know what it is. Maybe a parisite or maybe the bear just gets carried away in the spring rubbing itself starting from head to toe?

No,it's not mange.I can't remember the details but it's a zoo bear and I think,one of the Asian species and it is ancient.I don't think bears get mange but if it did,a zoo vet would get rid of it quickly.

I had a first time hunter shoot one with only hair on his ears and on his paws it wasn;t mange the skin was smooth like a pig. Never seen another since poor guy ifelt bad not much i could do about it .
