Mathews outback speed

I was looking at buying a bow tech equalizer or a mathews outback. My draw is 27" and weight is 60 pounds. Has anyone chronographed either one of these bows set up for hunting (peep, nock, and catwhiskers)?

i have an outback with a 492 grain arrow/broadhead i get 252 fps. it is a 28.5 draw length 73 lbs. 80% let off

My Outback at 63# & 28" is shooting right at 260-265fps. Love the bow!

How much does the Outback sell for? Did they just come out this year? I just won one in a big buck contest and it shoots fine. It seems slower than my Ultra Max but very accurate. I got the 28/60 but setting it up at 65% letoff boosts the speed and energy but the draw dropped to 27.5". So if you want shoot 65% letoff just know you will loose .5" draw length and a short wall.

The Outback is a discontinued bow. I won one at a RMEF banquest and when I did some research on the bow. Mathews sent me a form to request size, Right or Left hand, pounds,...etc. I found that they ahve discontinued making this bow but have offered the ones still in inventory for these types of events for a reduced price.
It is a great bow.

Awesome bow . mine , 60lb , 27 1/2 draw , 385 grain arrow setup , 273 fps for 4 years .
I put new 50lb limbs on this year < heart surgery > and I'm clocking 252 fps .

72lbs, 27 draw, 340 grain arrow setup, 270-275 fps.
Very smooth bow and very accurate. Awesome bow.

Thanks, I set it up by just eyeballing everything took it out to shoot was off about 8" high but very tight group. Made two adjustments and put five arrows in a 2" bullseye @ 20 yards.

I'll take you one step further. Check out PSE too, My PSE TS X-Force, axle to axle 28" at 63 lbs at 28.5" draw and 370 grains @ 297 fps. Dead accurate out to 50 yards with no problem. Speed kills. Mathews is a great bow but if you want speed you may want to look elsewhere.

I'll take you another step further, my 7mm magnum is much faster than your PSE X-force. Of course it hurts the ears a little but then again so does the X-force.
Speed kills, right? That is what it's all about, right?

For some it is and others it isn't. That's what make everyone different but, from 4runner4me's post it sounded as if he was looking for speed. If I hurt your feelings, which it sounds like I did, I am sorry. I for one like the speed as well as many others. As for the noise part, well let's just say noise is noise regardless how quiet or loud it is, the deer will still hear your bow and that is a fact. Also the last test results I read the PSE was listed as one of the quietest bows ranked right with Mathews and Bowtech and a couple others. Some people need to relax.

Spec wise they are similar.
Both have a IBO speed of 308. Fairly slow compared to new bows. Both have 7.5 brace height. 34'' ATA for FX2 and 31.5 ATA for outback. Same let off.
Not sure how they fill shooting it been a while since I seen or shot either.
If I was looking to upgrade you should be able to find some decent bows made in the last five years that I would think you would see more of a noticeable difference in and still be budget friendly. Not that either of the above bows can't be total adequate.

The Outback was an amazing bow when it was out. Very forgiving. I remember a lot of the pro staff guys shooting them when they hunted NM elk and January mule deer with us.

Cam profiles are different. The Outback will draw smoother. The FX2 cam is similar to my FeatherMax (which I will never part with).
Agree with JohnMc. Plenty of newer bows that are budget friendly and will be noticeable different.
