I broke a pole on my Cabelas Full Draw 2 blind. I was dissapointed when I called Cabelas customer service and they said the manufacture was out of business so they can no longer get parts. I told them when a product has the thier name on it, I consider them the manufacture and I'll be reluctant to buy a Cabelas brand product again. Anyway does anyone know where I can buy 3/8" carbon fiber poles?

I was thinking I might have to go with fiber glass but before I do, I thought I'd see if I could find carbon fiber in bulk. Then I could also replace the poles on my Double Bull blind. Its an older one with fiber glass poles and that would save me a few pounds.

Measure the double bull poles.....airly durable and maybe you could modify DB to meet your need. They (DB) has good customer service on the bunch of replacements that I just ordered.

You can also contact Ameristep - they will sell pop up blind poles as well and their customer service is also top notch.

Go to the Primos website (as they own Double Bull now). They will send you replacements for just the cost of shipping! You can order them right on their site! I think I got 4 for $14 S&H last year. They actually come a little long even for a Double Bull, but they are meant do be sawn to the desired length (easily with a hacksaw). BTW they are actually fiberglass.

Not sure about how much it really affects blinds because mine haven't broken yet, but you might need to be concerned about the spine. A rod much too stiff could put a lot of stress on the blind and one too light could cause the blind to move all around in a wind. I'm sure they are much more tolerant than an arrow, but I still wouldn't go too far either way off of what the blind was designed for.

Also, depending on the length, you can get carbon rods from a lot of kite stores (www.intothewind.com is one). They have a wide range in diameters but their lengths are usually around 32 inches. They may be more expensive because they are a good quality rod. The load on a stunt kite could be similar to the load on a blind in the wind.

You would be better off cutting them with a high speed arrow or graphite golf shaft cutting tool than a hacksaw, which will tend to splinter the rod.

Had the roof collapse on two of the Cabellas Zonz blinds. The Clam snow hut company has all sorts of hubs and rods. I bought a four rod hub and cut them to length. Worked perfect.
