Any coc 1 1/2 ot larger. Size matters.

Let me add that I would prefer 125gr +
TBM
Let me make this clear.
Your posts are like a spoiled kid looking for attention. And BOWSITE that allows it is the irresponsible parent.
Clear?
Crystal I hope
Including price as a factor, Magnus Classics or Zwickey are tough to beat. Price aside, VPA/Woodsman Elite are my favorite.
I use Muzzy Phantoms and get them shaving sharp with a KME broadhead sharpener.
VPA are my favorite. Ignore that 1 1/2" post above. A good 1" broadhead in the boiler room will put them down just as fast as a 1 1/2".
Vpa takes the cake in the category. King in every category of coc heads. Very easy to resharpen and hold an edge extremely well. I am sure you all get more votes for them
Abowyer broadheads are like a fine custom knife. They are perfection.
Razortrick 125's. I have had nothing but positive results on a dozen whitetails, can't say for elk or moose, but I would see no reason why they would not work as well as anything else out there. Being a frugal spender, I like the fact that if you hit a rock or something you only have to replace the blades rather than the whole head.
German K xls. Pricy, but fly excellent, stay sharp, and last kill after kill!
VPA 3 bladed non vented for me. Have used 125 g but not shot any elk nor moose with them. Testing the 175 g soon for moose hunt in Yukon. Want more FOC in case of windy conditions.
Used wetstones and a strop to achieve extremely sharp.

Hi Brad!
I'll bring you one of my Strickland Archery 125 gr Helix broadheads to try out tomorrow.
You saw what it did to my first elk this year/
52 yards Double lung complete pass through Lodged in a downed tree after exiting the elk. Elk flipped over and died after a few steps within 20 yards.
I'm going to use it in my whitetail hunt in Nov and hope to get a chance to replicate the results :)

I don't think you can beat the VPA 125 for value, ease of sharpening, and accuracy/tuning ease. It's in the very popular 1 1/8" size. You want good flight, tough, sharp and the best penetration possible. I can say that with confidence, not even once having hunted for those animals.
I use woodsman, love them. Will be tryingo it zwickey Eskimos this year, they have been around forever, must be something to them.
VPA is the current benchmark. I like the 150 unvented 3 blade, and my wife shoots the 125 unvented 3 blade.
I cant believe what people call a COC nowadays.
Agreed, VPA. Just recently watched a buddy bust one through an elk shoulder bone on a big bull. I was impressed. Killed a big bull myself a few years ago with a full pass thru and dead in 30 yards.
Zwickey has been around the block for sure. I use the Eskilite in my recurves. Im thinking of going to a COC with my compound.
I use a GATCO sharpener for my sharpening needs. Can the VPAs be used with this setup?
VPA, 100 grain non vented did a heck of a job on my elk this year. Broke ribs on the exit side, down and dead in 50 yards.
A lot of good heads now a days but I think its tuff to beat a VPA. If you go with a 125 or 150 grain non vented its one tuff head that will hold an edge.
Check out the NAP Hellrazors, my father and I just switched to them this year with amazing results.
6 foot wide and 5 foot high bloot trail with the Simmons. That was the best I seen but it was an aorta windpipe hit and he was viewing it out the holes like a 2 nossel sprayer.
Razorcaps! They meet all your criteria.

Your spoiled kid TBM is wanting attention again....
I have many heads with multiple kills with the same head. Yesterday I shot a vpa thru the scapula of a hog at 10 yards and it was unscathed and spun perfect. Put about 2 minutes into it on the flat stone and I plan to shoot another one real soon :)
I've used Montec's on elk and moose, and Snuffers on elk. No complaints with either. They both have done the job for which they were intended.
Simmons is also the best penetrator of them all. The true coc tip 2 blade with breakaway bleeder. Bleeder is a little tough and doesn't break out as easy as I would like but I took a dremel and fixed that.
One that has not been mentioned is the Phathead. It has the thickest blades in the industry, .080, which is nearly twice as thick as a head like the stinger. They sharpen easy, are super tough and they fly better than anything I have ever shot. I really am a major fan of these heads now. If I am not mistaken they now offer a 125 gr in a 1 3/16" cut.
I shoot the 100 gr Phathead with the swing open blades for a total of a 1.5" cut.
Well, there you have it....TBM has spoken - there is no need for any other broadhead. Simmons are a gift from God and as such we are grateful for his intervention in the matter. Please cease all conversation hence forth concerning broadheads, as there is no need.
I think pretty much any well built Razor Sharp COC broadhead will do an excellent job for you, and don't get too wrapped up on weight (100, 125 NS 150) will work, though I'd probably shoot a 125 gr broadhead. Montec, VPA, Steelhead, the new Muzzy COC, as well as the old standards like the Zwickey will give you good penetration. It's going to be about shot placement.
VPA, Magnus Buzzcuts, Solid Boadheads, Silverflames.
I shot Zwickeys for years as a kid, they are not accurate out of a fast shooting compound and the tips curl on a hard bone, they would be my last choice! Far too inconsistent, lots of maintenance, and you will need to buy 12 to find 6 that shoot the same.
Shuttle Ts, VPAs, or Magnus would be on my list for a COC head.
I would also put Slicks on the list, they are a great head but not COC.
Have to agree with XMan, I shot Zwickeys for several years while shooting traditional and curling tips were my experience as well.
Seemed like every animal shot resulted in a curled tip.
Since going back to compounds I've used Montecs, BuzzCuts and VPA's. So far not a single curled or broken tip. All three I just listed worked flawlessly for me. All three were reusable after passing through an animal.
Currently, I'm using the VPA's, 125gn, unvented. Been very impressed with them and don't plan on changing anytime soon.
I now shoot Slick Tricks - 100gr Mag - with great results
Leaning hard at these COC RAZORTRICKS from ST
I used to use Bear Razorheads but switched to Phantoms because I liked the stronger bleeder blades of the Phantom. The Bears were a good head but I wanted something a litter stouter. Been shooting Phantoms for 18 yrs and have no complaints. I sharpen my heads on a bench grinder with very fine carbide wheel and buff them on a polishing wheel. They get crazy sharp! I've tried the KME sharpeners but just can't seem to get the same kind of edge that I can get on the grinder wheels. The main thing is my Phantom tipped arrows fly the same as field points. I shoot a #54lb @ 28" recurve with 29.5" Easton Legacy 2216s with 3 5" shield cut feathers. Killed many deer with this setup. Bottom line, shoot what gives you the best arrow flight and hit them in the sweet spot and you will get good results.
If you are looking at slicktricks, check out the viper trtrick
cnelk- I went to Razortricks this season. (Exact size you have pictured). I went to them because I had issues of getting my snuffers to fly well out of my new bow. They fly like darts. Unfortunately I can't show you a dead animal,,, yet.
No elk in bow range this season. But there are some urban deer that might find out (soon) that find out how well they work.
I am pretty sure you could use your Gatco on them. I have a KME and plan on testing it with my practice blades. (I bought a spare set of new blades when I bought the heads)
Hmm....I guess the ViperTrick is not a true COC head.....so, shoot the RazorTrick instead! Ha!
cnelk...you wont be disapointed. Been using them for the last 3 years with great results and extremely accurate. I have only used them on whitetails but if I were going for moose or elk I would not hesitate.
I have shot the VPA 100 gr non vented since it came out in 2011? Very happy with them.
Stan NJ
What BH were you referring to?
Here is the skinny:
Sept 2014 I will be getting on a Super Cub and flying into the Alaska wilderness hunting moose. As mentioned, I now use 100gr ST for elk with great success. Over the next few months is a good time to switch my BHs for that hunt and more Colorado elk hunts after that.
Why switch? Not sure. Maybe because I can...
I appreciate all the knowledgable replies
I've shot the Magnus Snuffer SS, the G5 Montec (both stainless and CS), and I am now shooting the VPA vented. All 100 grains.
I haven't shot the VPA into an animal yet. I did shoot multiple animals with the Snuffer and Montec.
I really like the VPA better. I have an easier time sharpening them up after shooting. And they fly really well out of my bow
I am thinking about a switch to the VPA 2 blade 125s. If I was going to moose hunt, that's what I would shoot. The 125 and a 340 Easton FMJ
I thought about shooting 125s this year, but I'd already bought new arrows, the FMJ 400s, and after looking at the arrow charts, with my draw weight at 70, my arrow 26 inches long, the charts said I would need a 340 for a 125 grain head. I haven't tried the combo to know if that's true
Good luck next year!!!
Bake
Muzzy Phantoms have worked extremely well for me
Cnelk, I klled a good bull in Ak last year with the VPA 100 3 blade. It worked flawlessly. That said the ST should also work well.
Part of the equasion is shooting a heavy enough arrow for big bodied/boned moose.
Talking about the RazorTricks...I use 100 gr but the little extra weight of the 125's can't hurt with those big animals. My total arrow weight is 417 out of a 60 pound DXT...pass thru's on everthing.
Good Luck
My GoldTip arrows now weigh in at 420gr with the 100gr ST.
I will be no less than 445gr arrow if I go to a 125gr BH
I looked at the VPA 2 blade that BAKE suggested, now I have those on the 'short list' too.
Unless you are shooting a low poundage bow either of the VPAs' or ST will do fine. I prefer 3 blades.
That Helix above is MONEY and a true COC!
Cnelk I think you post on AT too, if this is correct look up sethro and see how the helix performs through huge bones...
A gold tip kinetic with a 125 or 150 grain VPA non vented head just sounds mean to me.
2 blades are very intriguing but wouldn't you get a better hole with a 3 blade??? The only 2 blade I have shot is a Rage and that was more like a slash in the body then a big hole.
I have had good success with Slick Trick Razor Tricks. Complete pass through on a moose, elk, bear, and 250# whitetail.
(forgot to mention- your broadhead needs to hit where you are aiming. Hitting the vitals with an ok broadhead is far better than a marginal hit with a great broadhead).
VPA. This is a hog I shot and the same broadhead that did this, it's still sharp to the point. The arrow went completely through the skull and struck the top bone in the vertebrae splitting it in half, I think it's called the axis. The skull was sent to Skulls Unlimited in OKC, they are who explained this to me. The video is on this site, Porkapalooza VI, April 28 2012. VPA, made a believer out of me.
Here it is.100gr 3 blade, vented.
RazorTricks are overlooked and fly under the radar on the forums for most hunters but i'll tell you guys that these heads are the real deal and kill elk dead quickly. I wouldn't hesitate to use them on moose or any big game either.
Second hog with same vpa in a week. Blood trail was awesome. 2 Minutes on the flat stone and ready or another. These heads are bad arse!!!
Magnus Snuffers and or VPA's may be your best choice. The VPA's are machined from one piece of metal vs poured or welded.
I had some G5 Montecs in my quiver and got alittle rain of them. the next day there was rust on the blades. Probably had no effect on them, but I thought that was a reflection on quality....the Magnus snuffers were perfect.
The Grim Reaper Hades has a trochar semi cut on contact tip. The blades seem to be a bit more sturdy than most replaceable fixed blade broadheads. I like these too.
Good luck there are a lot to choose from.
GR Heads Up Decoy
Magnus Snuffers are hard to beat. I have been shooting VPA's this year also and they show great promise. Can't wait to put one thru some flesh.
I killed my bull moose with a VPA tipped arrow out of my longbow. He was angling away and BH was just poking out other side. My arrow was 33" long. Tough to beat them.
85 grn. Stinger,37# longbow = dead deer, looks like I'll use it again after I clean 'er up !
I've had great luck with magnus snuffer ss's. Don't forget the lifetime warranty!!
only two broadheads I have never bent - Slick Trick Razortricks and Zwickey's
I've not shot them all, but I've bent Thunderheads (not badly), Muzzy's badly, a VPA badly a couple of years back, all mech's are easily bent/destroyed ....
Love the looks of that Strickland Helix
A slightly misplaced frontal shot on my moose this fall made me a lifetime fan of QAD exodus broadheads, I hit left of where I wanted, the arrow struck the front leg bone just below the shoulder, the bone exploded into shards the arrow still penetrated 22-24"s through the lungs\heart area, through the diaphragm, liver and into the stomach, the moose did not go far, crazy blood trail and broadhead was like new!(And I am only shooting a 62lb bow my draw is a 28") I have all kinds of COC heads, none of them would have done this to this huge bone! Last year I had a similar experience on my bull elk, except it was the farside rib, blown into shards, exodus explodes bone!
Here is a picture of the shoulder and leg bone
The VPA looks has a very similar tip.
An opinion in a sea of opinions:
For moose, I want a head which doesn't have brittle or replaceable blades. If I center a rib, I want the head to stay 100% intact and keep pushing. I happen to prefer 1-piece broadheads which can be sharpened repeatedly. My personal choice is a 2 blade by Abowyer, but you'd be outside your 125 gr preference with them. If I was going 3 blade, it wouldn't even require a debate. I'd go with VPA, simply because I own them and I've seen the severe damage they can inflict without being damaged in the process. I think a 3-blade VPA is unparalleled in its performance.
I also happen to like the Eclipse line, as I know the maker of these heads. They are extremely precise and have no compromises in them...plus they are Teflon coated.
Seems the VPA heads are very popular nowadays. I think will be shooting some of the 125s this season.
Baby Snuffer, Daddy Snuffer, and Papa Simmons...whos to daddy....size matters. Hopefully ill be planting some of these deep inside, outside the other side and into a tree root on the other side. My son will shoot the little one.

TBM learned to post a pic
They look dull
You better clean all that glue off around those inserts. You know you can't hit a running deer at 100 yds if your arrow isn't flying true. Looks like sloppy workmanship to me.
Magnus Snuffer SS....I've killed to many deer and elk with them to change now.

VPAs. There have been quite a few elk and moose taken with our heads. The 150 3 blades are my personal favorite of the line. They seem to have about the same trajectory as a 125 for me and several others that have tried them but that extra bit of weight is insurance in my book. Pics of some of the animals mentioned by the Bowsiters above are on the vparchery.com website as well as a pile of others. The caribou and moose killed by Adam Greentree in NWT in the Bowsite feature were taken with our 2 blade 150. He was using the 175gr 2 blade on the NM elk and mule deer hunt that that was also a Bowsite feature recently. He has taken upwads of 100 animals with our broadheads in the last couple years. Many are pictured in our writers gallery.
