I've got the predecessor to the ZXT, the Z7 Extreme. Essentially the same bow. I've enjoyed mine. Great bow for the Eastern-type whitetail & bear hunting I do. I'd recommend shooting one. If it feels right. By all means buy one. For Western hunting or long draw lengths, I'd recommend a longer axle to axle length bow.

ZXT is a smooth shooter, not the fastest but hard to beat for smoothness.

I did own the Z7 Extreme, primarily the same bow. One huge standout I noticed right away is the short ATA will show any form flaws. It did however help me in the long run because I put tons of time in correcting my form. Without question, a longer ATA bow is more forgiving.
Great to hear you took up the bow.

I had one and sold it. I prefer a longer ATA with my 29" DL.

I went from a 32" ATA down to the 28" ZXT and just could not shoot that bow....it felt good, I just could not get me grip consistent enough to shoot the ZXT. I'm now shooting an Athens Afflixtion, 35" ATA and LOVE it.

It's not the flagship so it's gets pushed by the wayside for reviews which is too bad. I shot it a lot last year and bought a Creed. I liked them both and shot them both very well. The Creed felt a bit better to me at full draw but i felt the ZXT was smoother overall. I'm out west too in Montana and have used short ATA and longer ATA bows. It's all what you shoot well. I think a lot of the newer shorter ATA bows shoot fantastic at longer ranges more so than ever before. I used to own a DXT back in the day and killed a pile of animals with that rig. It wasn't the fastest bow but it was smooth and put the arrow where it needed to go. I have a shorter draw length than you at 27". I think if you are solid with a 28"ATA bow buy it if you find 32" ATA bow that fits you better go for it. It's all what works well in your hands and no one elses. The ZXT is a great bow at a great price. The Elite line up is fantastic too. Can't go wrong. Go shoot as many as you can and get the one that feels and fits you right.
