Saskatchewan Live Hunt - maybe not
Whitetail Deer

Oh man that sucks. Can you still drive across the border with out it?
Wow that just plain sucks. Couldn't imagine that feeling. Hope you find an option.
I'd be in tears. Hope it works out.
Soooooo is there a spot that needs filling?
Jk Pat it actually makes me sick to my stack reading that.
I thought you could use a birth certificate and a government ID in lieu of the passport?
Hope it comes together for you Pat.
If past history is any indication you will find a way! Perhaps call the border people or your flaming liberal Congressman? C
dang, that really sucks. Send Pat Jr and let him kill a monster :)
Tough situation, Pat. We've all done things like that... very frustrating. I hope you're able to find a way to get the hunt back on track.
Wow Pat. Sorry to hear that. You may be able to drive across the border to Montreal with your driver's license and fly from Montreal. I know many people in VT who enter Canada and the US with only a driver's license. Hope you can make it work.
"US citizens can no longer cross the border, back into the US, from Canada, using only a driver's licence and birth certificate due to changes in U.S. law that took effect June 1, 2009."
That sucks, Pat. I can imagine the sickness in your stomach when you realized it had expired.
I'm not a day's drive from your semi-live hunt Pat. Can be on the road by 9:30am to fill this most important spot in your life. I'm just happy to help you out!
To be honest, I've seen this done here in Winnipeg. 2 gals in front of me in line to check in on a flight to Cabo have stains in their passport, told they won't accept the passport at the destination, and get in a taxi, rushed downtown, new passports issued and they make their flight. Not sure about the US but if it's possible, they will help you out. You need a new passport not a replacement so screwed, you may be.
Pat several years ago I went to board flight to Baja for an amazing fishing trip with my son... The prior year, I accidentally put my passport through the wash, and other than the cover looking slightly worn, all the pages looked good. They would not accept it, classified it as "mutilated" and we got turned away. Turned out my best option was to get up early and drive directly to Philadelphia where you can get an expedited, same day passport which I did. Got there 7:00 am and by 5pm I had a new passport. The airline and hotel and fishing charters were all very accommodating and the very next day I was on that flight... Lost two days because of it, but lesson learned!
The difference between yours and mine, is mine was just a replacement but I still think you can get an expedited one hopefully... GOOD LUCK
Good luck, hope plan B works out
Smile Pat. Over coming adversity makes our successful hunts more rewarding. Good luck.
I did that in 2010 but caught it 2 weeks before left for Africa. Had to get it expedited and drive to Chicago for interview. Was awful. Won't do it again and learned a lesson. Sorry that happened Pat and have been there. No fun. At least wasn't before your cape buff hunt. Could have been worse:)
Pat, That sounds like the best option. I think you should start the live hunt dealing with the govt in Stamford tomorrow. Anyway I bet it all works out in the end and you get a Canadian giant.
Catch the PM hunt in Greenwich tonight, get a hotel then do an hour am hunt and be at the door when they open! Good luck! C
You better show up, I bought you a "Hillary Next" t-shirt that I knew you'd like. Can't even give it to someone else in size: midget.
Pat if you could wear the Hilary shirt to Stamford it could make things go quicker :)
Rose says that was kinda mean. But funny.
Th best hunts are the ones with the memorable twists Good luck
Rob, LMAO ! Don't worry Pat, he has one tied up for you ! Try not to let the rope burns show on the mount.
Fingers crossed. Hopefully all goes well.
I can ONLY imagine your frustration when you opened up that passport.
everything happens 4 a reason
What really sucks is when you realize how fast those 10 years went by!
Make it happen Pat....we are all looking forward o the hunt as a pre cursor to the rut getting rolling here at home!
Mark
+1 Midwest!
Last year only had 136 days!!!
Curious on how Pat has fared this morning.
"Catch the PM hunt in Greenwich tonight ... "
Sorry not in CT, Sunday Hunting is just a dream.
Good luck Pat, hope it works out for you. I have this mental picture of you sitting in a busy Passport office in downtown Stamford reading Bowsite on your iPhone.
Plan B (or is it C now) might be to head up here, then when the passport is granted, someone can mail it up to you. You'd just have to find things to hunt in Canada until it got there.
So ANYONE can cross the Southern border at will but we for some reason are worried about the Northern border?
Makes a lot of sense.
Good luck Pat I hope you can make it.
An american citizen has to go thru this but yet we have illegals showing up Dailey.
Suppose Pat is enjoying the morning with his new liberal friends in Stamford? I am sure they are excited at the chance to help him with his hunt. Good Luck, looking forward to the live hunt!
Good save Pat - way to recover. Like I said, I know the feeling, imagine having your bags in hand with your son(14 at the time) and being turned away!
Good luck, hope you get that nice 10 or something even bigger!
Good luck! Looking forward to the thread!
Glad that you got the passport issue resolved....if it had happened prior to our elephant hunt (that never happened), you'd have never lived it down.....
Sweet! Look forward to following the hunt!
What about an enhanced drivers license? We drive each year to Ontario. We've been told that either a Passport or the enhanced license, available in NYS does the trick....
Good luck Pat!

Sorry. I TBM'd.....

Sorry, I TBM'd....

well your good for 10 more years .
I could not find my passport and was planning my trip to stamford since I head to Canada Nov....gave up looking for it and found it
Glad you were able to work that out Pat. Just wait until Canada begins requiring VISAs for us all!
If this ever happens to anyone else there is an on-line company that is highly respected called CIBT and they can get overnight passports for you (for a fee) as they have agents right in DC waiting for situations like this. I have used them before :)
I can believe that you did this, but I can't believe that you told us about it. Then again, I leave for Canada in less than two weeks. Now where did I put that passport??
Where there's a will there's a way! Good luck up north!
Bake
You are one lucky SOB... kill a giant :)
Great news. Likely not missing much action today, it is 74 degrees and very windy. But you never know....
Go get em Pat. Best of luck!
Best of luck Pat. We'll all be watching closely and pulling for a great week of Mobile Live Hunts. Shoot true and stay safe.
Good luck Pat, kill a big one !
Have a great time. Looking forward to the semi live hunt.
This is one of my favorite hunts to follow !
Its a matter of time before Pat shoots a giant up there.
Good Luck Pat and crew!
those temps need some serious reduction. 80 degrees is insane
DId this area have a hard winter like many of the other provinces?
Pat, that six point you saw yesterday would have overfilled my freezer !
Pat that 2.5 year old will be the king until some stud decided he likes that spot, and the does that hang there. Any time that little guy isn't in sight a monster can appear. Think of him as your canary in a coal mine. When he looks up and disappears, get ready!
I once hunted Manitoba, and I know those all day sits can be brutal, but knowing what's around, what's possible keeps you awake. The body size of those deer is unbelievable. I never saw a monster, but the size of the sheds the guide had lying around kept me from wanting to punch my tag on a mere 130 inch deer that could be spectacular in a year or two. I hope you get to see the Northern Lights, and hear wolves howling (from not too close).
Enjoy your time at the extreme of the Whitetail's range, and I hope to see a grip and grin with a 200 inch monster. I'll leave it up to you to pray for a typical massive dark horned 12, or that gnarly, junk everywhere (almost) ugly nontypical rack.
Good luck! Don't forget the boot pic, I think your Lacrosse endorsement requires it! :-)
I just received my Passport renewal...took 2 weeks.
Pat, are you sure you aren't really an agent for some secret Government Agency?
Are wolves fair game in this area....and if so, do you have a wolf tag?
Just a hunch, but I would say somebody is tracking
I am going to say something that will ensure you kill a 160" on this trip.
Is it the fact you go to Kansas at prime time each year that keeps you going back to SK pre-pre-rut. You gotta believe a couple more weeks and you'd be hunting in high cotton, but the early hunts are a crap shoot.
Now make me look stupid and kill that 160"
Life can be a real TV sitcom at times. You wait all year for this, you have a "fun" time in prep with passport, etc.
You get in stand with high anticipation and stress of getting there and sit and wait...wait...wait some more.
Conditions aren't ideal.
So you smile and hope lady luck changes the weather or gets that buck up to pass by you.
Sometimes you just sit back and enjoy the ride because it's a lot easier than complaining.
Here's to good luck and a nice buck today!
If Rob says to sit there I would sit there! I dont know if I would sit all day but I would sit there! ;)
all sits ....you gotta bring a book....occupy your mind alittle
Or iPad and get your Angry Bird on.
My kids come sit with me and play on devices to pass time. They are even quiter then I am!!
Bring it on Pat! Congrats Greg!
Mark
Nice looking bucks, congrats!!!!
I'd have shot that damn 6 point like 4 times by now.
Pat seems always to be a gentleman. I still have fond memories of hunting with him and Rupe on the Eastern Shore of Connecticut. Kansas this year? I pray the best for him there.
Kansas awaits in the rut.
not to pine, Pat plenty of 6pts in NY!!
You gave it your best shot Pat. Lotsa hours in the stand doesn't always equal success, as you know. Sorry you didn't score, better luck next time. It ain't over 'til they throw dirt in your face !
Pat, I was wondering what was being used for bait at the baited stands. Were the deer being chased off by bears guarding the bait? Several nice bucks shot, a couple of muffs at nice bucks and good bucks that came in but didn't present a shot or were chased off by bears. If that equates to them being "shut down" I hope they shut down for me this year. :)
Pat I am glad you shared that hunt. If I go on 10 guided hunts there is always one hunt with a great outfitter that ends this way.
It's OK. It's hunting. There are 9 other hunts that end great.
These hunts always humble me and put what we are doing back in perspective. I rarely blame the outfitter in these situations. Regardless of price.
We hunt unpredictable wild animals who at any second can change the game so much that we are left scratching our heads. Guessing wrong.
While I don't want every hunt to end this way I am glad when one does because that feeling you get just makes that feel you get when things go right even better.
So keep posting your successes and humble-pie moments.
It can (and does) happen to all of us....still a great trip!
Mark
ReallY...really....really??!?!?!?
Ok. Now you are just torturing yourself.
That can drive man insane.
C'mon! Really? What's the distance from the trailcam to the 50hr stand you were in? I guess its like the same mentality of the roulette wheel at the casino - never look back once you walk away from the table. Best of luck next time Pat and throughout the rest of your season.
Pat - any chance they showed because they did not detect the odor of a human hunting them? That cannot be a coincidence, seems like they are wise to that spot and know when its safe to go...
Especially if it's a baited site
I'll be there next week...sorry we didn't meet up Pat; good luck on your forthcoming hunts.
You do know the booners were having a party around your chosen stand... the day you burned on your passport... hehehehe...
Cool hunt. Congrats to the boys, Looks like great animals. Sound like that's huntin'.... and still a great hunt. I know folks do hunts like that and never have an opportunity on any animal.
Don't know about others, but I can live with it if I'm making the decision to shoot or not and that decision isn't made for me by no opportunity... that's a good hunt....
Your a better man than I am if you spent 50 hours in one stand. I have to bounce around and have a change in scenery.
Couldn't have been your crack scent control program :-)
"Well this figures. Look what happened yesterday at the stand I spent 50 hours sitting at looking at the same dink buck."
The big bucks can detect that new passport scent.
Thanks for posting this report! I am headed to hunt there in a few weeks. Fired up is an understatement. Looks like some nice bucks were killed and seen.
Excellent photo showing the buck displaying. And...this thread made me go check my passport.
Buck #1 to Buck #2....."Pssst....the coast is clear....I can't smell Bratwurst or chicken salad remains anymore, Lefemine must be gone!!"
Madtrapper......"Crack scent control program"......literally or figuratively or both?
