I can't believe it I drew a Colorado Unit 6 moose tag! I drew an Idaho tag last year and now Colorado this year. I am going to very busy, I have a Musk Ox hunt in August and a Roosevelt Elk hunt in Early September, now I have a moose tag, its going to be a rough fall hunting season :)

Just slightly envious of the situation you've put yourself in for this fall!

Enjoy all of those hunts!

Congrats on your tag!

GMU 6 isnt a slam dunk hunt. Lots of terrain variations and private and public.

I know where I would moose hunt in that unit, but it would be a very tough hunt

Wish I could dump my bucket of points over your head!

Good luck and have a great time! Some bulls a LOT bigger than that little ID feller in Unit 6.

Yeah I am sure it won't be a slam dunk. A lot of people think moose are easy to kill but that has not been my experience.

I am definitely hoping for a bigger bull, I killed him on the last day of a ten day hunt.

I have a bucket full of points too but it is a little lighter now :) I think I had 13 weighted points.

Cnelk,

Awesome bull that is definitely what I am looking for, about what date did you kill him? I have the archery season which goes from the 12th to the 27th.

Lenny, Thanks!! it should be fun.

Archery season in that unit is an easier hunt than when cnelk killed his later. You can find your bulls and keep tabs on them. They'll still hang around the same area by the time you start your hunt.

PM me with your email addy and I'll give you some ideas.

Congrats on the tag,

Man, moose meat two years in a row!

Now that's something to be envious about!

We've got a lot of great stuff to hunt in Kansas, by no moose. :-(

I think I am going to grill some moose tomorrow, it is hard to beat.

Moose is above elk, as elk is above venison, to us...and we really like venison.

Good luck. Here are a couple of Colorado moose I took a few years ago. Colorado is about the best state for nice bull in the lower 48.

Have a great bow hunt. BB

Bill, Awesome pictures and one heck of a bull! I like that shot angle especially if he was looking straight ahead.

Tom, thanks and Congrats on your griz!

JM here's one that's looking straight ahead. It's hard to tell from this photo, but this bull is a stud too. He's a Utah bull who came in for a drink one evening while I was hunting deer. I shot a buck that evening while he would not let the buck water. When I hiked up out of the canyon to get cell service, I ran back into him and took that photo. In the next post I will show you what he looked like at the waterhole.

And here's a good shot on that second bull I posted. I took this the evening before I took the other one. He's a dandy bull too. I hope you can get one like these and you will have done very well in my opinion.

Have a great bow hunt. BB

And here's one final photo of the bull you said would be a good shot if was looking straight ahead. I took this that same morning in the same area as I did the other one.

Congrats on drawing your tag. I drew unit 6 in 2012 with a muzzleloader bull tag. He wasn't the biggest bull in the woods, but I had a great time and was happy with the outcome. Best of luck on your hunt!

Orion,

Nice bull! being in the woods and having a good time is what it is all about.
