good luck its colo ive been told u need to shoot the 1st brown you see !!!!
Hope this go round is a lot easier than the last dozen or so! Good Luck!
Is it "live" as in no elk will be harmed in the making, and all will still be live when you leave ;)
--Jim
Pa, is this Western CO area or more Northern?
Good luck Pat and thanks for the live hunt. Always fun to watch what happens!!
I can't tell you how many times I have watched Pat's successful elk video....but it is a bunch!!
Another thirteen year quest begins. >>>>~~~~~~>
What's his mule deer hunt to dinner ratio?
If it's like elk Mrs. LeFemine et al would have starved to death.... =D
But good to know folks stick by their standards and goals.... mostly... heheheh...
Can't wait. Some great stories coming for sure....
Did you remember to pack your custom grunt tube?
Too cool, tuning in every day....
Very Nice, best of luck!! Shawn
Go get the bull. The deer will be there.
Go for the elk! Leave the deer for later. Good luck!
Bull Time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Go get him!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Elk vs Deer = No Brainer!
Kill that bull, Pat!
Best of Luck, Jeff
I have no problem with you using the term "slam dunk", however, please contact me first before you use "Chip Shot" again:) Good luck with that bruiser of a bull!!!
Going to be a great hunt...
Man I hope that he is wearing a hat....
Interesting to see the Mulies in velvet. I saw a lot of bucks in Idaho this weekend, from dinks to monsters, and they were all hard horned already.
Good luck, Pat. Shoot straight and beware of snakes!
You have shot a nice elk already not sure you have a nice mulie.
Good luck, Pat. Looking forward to the stories.
Nice looking bucks.....do you think that they have blown out of the area now?
Now that you have had a "go" at those mulies, let's give that bruiser of a bull another go.....how does Wes think that he compares to your previous bull.....bigger, smaller, or comparable?
Madtrapper - Forget the hat, cover that mug with a full headnet!!
Good stuff, and nice bucks.
Thanks for the honesty, Pat. "To be honest," "blame the shooter..."
That's refreshing to read these days.
You're already having a great hunt.
hope u brought plenty of arrows !
that bull in the pic looks sweet very dark mane . he is a shooter .
Having spent several years in a Kansas deer camp with you, I will just say that it is 10PM EDT and there is still no evening update. It's been dark for over two hours out there, so wolf down the last of your bratwurst and chicken salad (they are probably on the kitchen table, next to your hunting clothes), and post tonight's update!!
Wonder how his crack scent control program is working?
What happened to the evening report? Are you skinning, or just too pooped to post one for the evening?
Medicinemann, I taking from Pat's last sentence. "Looking forward to tomorrow's hunt." That was his last post for day 2. But I'm only guessing at this point,, Ed
Ed,
When I last checked Pat's post, there was no afternoon hunt posted......he added it at a later time. Besides, the last thing that I am going to do is cut him some slack.....after all, what are hunting buddies for?...lol
Being 1 PM out there and no report yet has some signs of something good happening. We shall see.
Good point chip I'll bet they're dragging something out
Looks like fun is being had great pics.what cam.are you using Pat.Lewis
Pat answered the cam question in another post. He's got the 75% cam. So I think Pat's got a surprise for us. (guessing),, as he has posted on other stuff on here the bowsite today. Ed
He can post comments on other stuff using his cellphone, but I am guessing that for his detailed thread updates, he does those on his laptop back at camp....I wouldn't read too much into it.....now I just have to hope that he proves me wrong!!
You really had to send that while I'm at work? Geez.....looks like a BLAST!
You're gonna pay, if you leave us hanging for several hours!! Even if you are going to pass, you could at least give us some details!!
Are you in a tree, or on a really steep slope?
That elk would be leaving dead or scared if I was there.
Well, that's assuming I didn't miss it so badly it wasn't even scared.
Wow, what a fun hunt!
I'm liking this Pat,,,thanks for the live hunt and good luck!
Pat,
Feel free to bring that buzztail to Kansas with you in November....Madtrapper just LOVES snakes....(not)!!
What is it with you and snakes.....mambas, rattlers...I am surprised that you didn't see an Inland Taipan, King Brown, or Tiger snake when you were in Australia for Water Buffalo...jeesh...
That video of all those young bulls was well worth the wait....as long as you still go home with some elk meat!!
Day four is a perfect day to shot:)
Funny you ran in to your favorite president up there, Pat! :-)
always fun to have elk close ,them pissheads come in when u blow a whistle
what great action. if you just had scent-lok clothing on you would have killed that big one. Or maybe a portable ozonics thingy.
Pat just wanted to ask why you prefer 75gr BH over say 100, or 125? What is your total arrow weight?
You are certainly bucking the trend of more weight forward of center.
You are one of the few on here that routinely shoots BH's < 100 Grains and I always wondered what your philosophy is since I have heard just about everyone else's when it comes to arrow weight and BH's...
GOOD LUCK!
jack he wants to stiffen his shaft :>
It's 12:41 AM EDT on 9/12 and still no afternoon update for 9/11......hmmmmm.
MM - now 1:41 and still no update. Something is fishy.
Good shooting Pat! Good luck with the Mule deer today.
Awesome Pat a big hearty CONGRATULATIONS!
Nice Pat! Great shot and perfect footage. Go get that big Muley.
Congratulations Pat, a fine and we'll deserved trophy. Wes cam now breath a sigh of relief and is probably up for some sort of guiding oscar being the man that broke the jinx not once, but twice
To be honest I was thinking we better get your son on a plane asap Mrs Lefemine was going to have a freezer full of elk meat for the winter
Michael
great job on a beautiful bull. well done. the footage is exemplary as well. what a memory you made.
Congratulations, Pat. And, thanks for taking us along on your hunt once again.
Nice bull Pat! Looks like you and Wes need to work on that handshake a bit. ;)

That's awesome Pat. Very happy for you! Looks like the "curse" is definitely a thing of the past! Nice looking bull!
Awesome hunt, awesome ranch and awesome guide! I hope I get to hunt with him again someday.
Congrats Pat! If you need a place to crash for the night in Indiana, I can hook you up.
Congrats Pat !!
You've really broken the ice for sure. Great shot and super video footage.
A very nice trophy.
Congrats Pat! Nice bull, the video was great as well.
Pat and snakes goes hand and hand .
Pat your shot worked perfect! but last year i tracked a bull for a hunter same entry but the bull was at a sharp quarter 2 the hunter. Guide and hunter said shot was perfect but bull was not found . We found the elk over a mile from the hit site over 24 hrs later , what happened is arrow either made slight cut into the heart or complete miss of the heart due to the quarter 2 shot what killed the bull was on the exit the bulls stomach was hit causing bulls death , bulls belly's hang lower then the front section . No two hits are ever the same ! Path of the arrow is more important
Congratulations, nice bull!
Congrats Pat and Wes! Nothing better than a great hunt between great friends!
That footage is legendary!
Mark
Congrats. That was a great way to go out. Thanks for taking us along. Hunt
Sorry to see that the buyer of your guide's territory doesn't appear to do archery at all.
Great hunt, Pat. Thank you,
Congrats Pat, well written commentary which made for an interesting read. I guess your Elk curse is done. Mike
Great job Pat nice video too; not sure who that bull was sticking his tongue out to...Thanks
Congrats Pat! Great hunt!
Now time to come clean..............are YOU the reason Wes is "retiring?!" ;-)
Congrats on the bull! You must really trust your guide when he kept having you hold off on visible elk with only 5 days to hunt! I know that would have been a challenge for me.
Congratulations on not only a fine bull Pat, but for bringing the rest of us along with you! It's not easy documenting a hunt in such detail but you always manage to pull it off and those of us who live vicariously through your hunts appreciate that.
-Matt and Cheryl
Congratulations, well done
Congrats Pat on a great bull! Again, a thread well done!
Guess it's a DEAD Elk Hunt now.... thanks for bringing us along.
Congrats, great shot. And bringing home a bunch of meat as requested. Mission accomplished. Well done.
What was that sound after you stuck the bull sounded like someone was stepping on a cats tail you didn't have a hoochie in your pocket. Nice shot and it was done in just a few days of your hunt.
Congrats Pat! Good shooting.
Pat when are you going to take Matt on one of these with you.
Well Im really late to the party, but belated congratulations Pat. That was fun! The video footage was exceptional. Its always nice to watch them fall, isn't it?
Well, that was fun. Nice. Paul
went back over it again. very neat.
Great shot Pat I shot a cow on the last day of my hunt on Sept 6. My son got a nice 5by5 in area 31. We are looking foreward to the Kansas hunt with Jake.
