Caribou hunt memento
So as my friends were leaving the ridgetop strip I snapped a picture of the Super Cub taking off overhead. Fast forward to a couple weeks after getting home... A gentleman's wife in my office is a very accomplished painter and I showed him this pic to see if his wife could paint it. A few weeks later, this is what I got back. 20x24", oil on canvas. I'm quite pleased and it's a reminder of a great adventure.
Beautiful and you're right, she's a very accomplished painter.
Pretty damn cool.. Love the antlers
That is so cool, what a great way to remember a hunt too. She did an awesome job Nate!
That is outstanding! Your firend's wife is very talented! Unique things like this always seem to be treasured a lot longer than photographs for me.
Who is this gal, and does she take commissions? Great painting - good composition and execution, high drama. I have a better chance of getting a painting on a wall than a mount.
Thank you all. I'm pretty proud of it! Yes I believe she does do commission work. PM me if you'd like her contact info.
much better than a picture
That's great. I thought I was looking at the picture . Hunt
Love that! I Have a couple shots like that that would be Amazing paintings if done by the right person
Very nice, where were you hunting? let's see the picture!
This was the pic. Told her to cut out the rockpile and flagging tape. Also told her to bring the plane more into the foreground and make it a focal point. 100% accuracy, otherwise.
that's a hell of a memento! nice
Awesome painting!! Very cool
Very nice, and I can relate with how special it is to you, as I had an artist do the very same thing a couple of years ago after my caribou hunt with my favorite photo from the trip!
Priceless visual account of the hunt..... for a "LIFETIME" !
Congratulations , and tell her , wonderful job with the painting !!!
Wow. That's a great painting, real talent, congrats.
I don't know how many numbers it would take for me to do something like that.....
Way cool! Love that painting! Wish I had some of that kind of talent...
That plane looks familiar... Spent some time up there with my boy a few years ago fishing and Frank Noska took us out - put us down on a willow choked gravel bar and we had an awesome time. Love those bush planes!
Treeline, yep it's a Piper Super Cub. The workhorse of the AK bush and the preferred craft for off strip landings.
That is awesome, I thought I was looking at a photo as well.
That is spectacular. Very cool memento...
Incredible doesn't do the painting justice.....at first I thought it was THE picture!
The memories that must bring back.
What a great painting and memory for you Nate! She really did a great job. Cant think of a better way to capture a memory.
Glad this thread was brought back up out of the dust! Awesome work!
Stuff dreams are made of!
Great job on the painting,,,,,
I can't see the pic... can someone repost it. How'd I miss this... Ed F
I get to look at that painting every day in my office. It’s a great conversation piece. Not sure how this got resurrected, but glad it did. Fabulous memories of that hunt. Apropos, too, as I just booked a brown bear hunt today!
That’s gotta be a hell of of a good omen! Good luck with the big bears!
Leave it to Nick! He always finds the good, old stuff on here...;)
