Shiloh Ranch Trail Cam Pics #3
Hogs
Contributors to this thread:
Here is our stand #3 setup. This time I am pointing the Cell Cam South toward the ground blind.
It didn't take long for the first visiting Hog to get his pic taken.
Soon, he is joined by several others!
#3 is one of my favorite personal locations on our Ranch. This evening
Cool setup.. Now get a hunter in there so we get a chance at seeing a bow kill on camera! Cool placement! Nice pigs Neat old box blind too!

That's where I took my last hog. Out of the window on the right. Dang thing made it down into the creek. Took towhead to help me drag it up a steep bank 20 feet up and out. Wore us both out. 100 pound sow.
Hey john..good to hear from ya again...been a while!
How far a shot is that? Pretty cool setup.

This morning I believe I missed some early pics from low temps and low batteries. Going to install new ones. Here are some a few min ago.

Yep Neb, I'm still alive. It has been quite awhile. Just don't hunt much or post much anymore. If you catch a hog in front of the feeder or to the side, about 15 yards. Mine was a bit farther. Three deer kept milling around in front of me, then the hog I wanted stayed behind the feeder. Every time I got the shot I wanted, they would start fussing and move. I finally got a quartering away shot at 30 yards. The hog ran about a 100 yards and fell off into that creek. I slipped up to the edge, and spotted it standing below me with the arrow still in it. I got another into it between the shoulder blades. It ran about 50 yards and fell over. Long drag out.
This Boar looks as if he's thinking, "should I or shouldn't I?"
Ah #3. My nemesis for so many years.
Happy New Year, Matt and Cheryl.
8 hunters from Wisconsin shot @ 7 hogs and recovered 6. Not bad for the first time out. Biggest one was about 300#. This is #3 shortly after feeder went off.
Our eight hunters shot 11 hogs on their first trip to Shiloh!
I'll probably move cam tomorrow.
WOW, 11 hogs down! That's a lot of pork on the ground. Congrats to all hunters. See you all Monday afternoon.
#2 will be the new view for the next few days. Just set it up and already have visiting neighbors
Skippy...try and be here about 11am if u can. Thanks!
Lots of Pigs at #2 this morning at first light.
11 more days that brown hog right under the feeder looks about right!
Did you move the camera to 5?
I never get tired of these. Must be a swine-o.
Not much this morning. A couple hogs and several deer.
Nice crowd at #2 this evening!
All our hunters shot hogs the last 2 days.
Sounds like the hunters are really having some great hunts. Keep up the great work.
Yes, Mike, great hunts indeed!
First crew right on time!
Just got back from Shiloh, great hunt as always! Saw lot's of hogs. Thanks Matt & Cheryl.
Congrats Skippy! I'm looking forward to putting some pork on the ground in March.
This morning is wet and muddy after rain last night
Is this place high fence?
Nice hog right there, come on only 8 more days!
Bowhunt247, Shiloh is NOT a high fence operation.
Mike, did shiloh take down the fence and become a free range area? I Missed that? Matt said they were cracking down on fenced operations and all but shutting them down.. That's too bad.. I don't understand how they don't understand that places like Shiloh have killed more hogs and brought in a lot of money to Oklahoma tourist area. Places that used to buy trapped hogs to be put in these ranches to be hunted by people from out of state was a win win for everyone..especially the area farmers!!
Well Matt, you are getting a lot of daytime activity at those feeders being free range. That's AWESOME!!
Keep the pictures coming!! Getting my pig fix...only 21 days till my trip to Texas!!!

It has fence... just not high...
No, Jeff...the man ask if we are high fence. A high fence is typically 8' to 10' high. Mike simply answered that we do not have a high fence based on most definitions of what a high fence is. We have a perimeter fence of 4 miles around our place. It is a low fence (5') that is Hog proof. Hope this helps.
Pigs coming in right now.
Oh..I thought maybe with all the stupid laws Oklahoma was passing that they made you take em down.
Good to hear your still up and running as normal. Awesome pictures ..do you have any hunters in camp?
Love the pictures..great idea!!

Matt and Cheryl, What do you attribute all of the morning activity to? We have killed a few hogs in the morning, but typically evening sits are always much more productive. We too are counting the days until late February and hoping the outstanding hog activity keeps up.
Normally, mornings are not as productive. I attribute that to the fact hogs are more of an evening/nighttime animal. Secondly, hunters spook the hogs on the way to stands. Think about it, walking out early afternoon to stands, the hogs are bedding and hunters visually can see with the aid of artificial light...thus low impact. Mornings, hunters are walking to stands right in the middle of active Hog movement. Plus, lights and wandering around trying to locate stands and other items. The proof is in the pudding. If someone is in a stand in the morning I get few pics. If no one is in the stand, Pigs are likely to come in. Yes, we had hunters that left yesterday. More hunters starting their hunt tomorrow. Pics from this evening.
Makes sense on the morning sits. I'm sure the hogs get bumped trying to get to the stands.
Matt, how long do the hogs normally stay and feed if undisturbed? Do they normally stay until all the corn is gone? Or do they dine and dash and then come back and eat more?
Thanks

Nice group there!!

Just informed, Hog recovered!

Jeff, that would be cool, and I have in fact had that very thing happen before. It's a matter of time! Two more hogs shot this evening. The most recent pics.
Nice!! that last picture looks to be a nice pig coming in!
And I hope it happens! It would be pretty cool to see!
Thanks for taking the time to post these...feeding my addiction!

Jeff, thanks for your comments and observations! The morning crew
Man I am having trouble getting anything done...Friday will be 14 or 15th trip to Shiloh. Every year I think that the excitement for upcoming yearly trip will wean but it never does can't wait to be back! Looking forward to seeing Matt and Cheryl both on Friday afternoon and can't wait to see how big Kia has gotten.
Lucas
Yes, Shiloh is a healthy addiction. I'm not better, KSBow, probably at that or even a bit more, and one of my trips every year is a double.
I think I've been there a time or two myself.
You guys have become our Shiloh Family. Hope it never ends! Update...5 hunters first eve out with 4 hogs shot so far! One at #2 where cam is.
Made my first trip to Shiloh in 2009 and been at least twice a year since 2010. Have 2 trips for 2016 with the first being next month. Can't wait to see my Shiloh family and great friends again.
It was a great time there last year even with the big snow storm the end of Feb., 7 went, all scored. This year 3 of us are returning in March with 2 newbies. Pictures are great, and can't wait to put pork on the ground Easter weekend. Looking to become a new holiday tradition.
5 hunters, 5 hogs so far. Nice one from #7.
2 more Pigs down... Everyone tagged out!
Can I suggest next location at #5 would be nice to see prior to being there Friday that I could take short walk to 5:)
I think everyone that goes to Shiloh has the best time hunting these hawgs. Good job Matt and Cheryl.
Thanks DM/wolfskin! KSBOW, sorry bud, moved it to #1 about 10am this mourning
It's not 81° as indicated on camera. (I, wish). Must be in the sun
At the risk of counting my chickens a little early here, I'd like to know from other hunters on how the new processor H&L is doing. Has anybody had their sausage etc. recently? What is their pricing now for an average hog? We are heading to Shiloh toward the end of February and like everyone else, cannot wait to get there.
$60 for a regular hog, up to $100 for one of the monsters. Sausages are good, and consistent. He does a breakfast sausage as well as the Italian. Gary's a nice fellow, too.
OK good deal, we've had Gary do some hogs in the past, but it has been a couple years. Hope he gets the chance to charge me $100.
We had Gary process 4 BIG hogs for us between Christmas and New Years. His setup is awesome- especially when you are able to just drive up and winch a 400#+ hog right out of the bed of your truck! When you think of how nicely-packed and vacuum-sealed the meat is (and the giant chore / mess that's taken off of your hands), it sure makes for a more enjoyable trip! It's a blessing to have such a place within such a short drive of Shiloh! He charged us $130 for our largest, which yielded over 130 pounds of boneless meat (mostly sausage). He was almost nervous to ask for the extra, but explained that it was the second-largest he remembered processing & it took adding something like 64 ounces of sausage seasoning. I tipped him an extra $20 and felt it was well-deserved!
Gary has done hogs for me. He's a super guy and worries about good customer service. He shouldn't as he is top notch. I highly recommend him.
Did P&P close? Sure do miss Alvin and Dan. They made some of the best breakfast sausage!!

Yes P&P closed and their operation was purchased by Gary and a buddy who I'm not sure is still involved with business. The business also relocated to a new location which is actually just a little closer to Shiloh.
