I will be going to Africa this year. I have the option of going late August and hunting through Sept. 5th or Late September and hunting through early October. Both hunts hit the dark moon. Which is the better timeframe?

I recommend going late August and finishing up on the first week of September. If you wait until the end of September, rain is a possibility and the bushveld will green up. Traffic at the waterholes will be greatly reduced if that happens. Good luck on your trip. You're in for the trip of a lifetime.

I totally agree with Chief on this and also if we have another dry year like 2015, the animals condition are not what they should be and you will see that on your trophy skin in the end- So a definite Aug/Sept from me; you will have a blast!!

Been there 3 times. Take the August slot. October will be very green and hot as hell.

August. It's also getting pretty warm by the later date, increases chances of snakes too.

Africa is a large continent.
Where exactly (country/countries) are you planning to go in Africa? What game animal(s) are you planning to hunt?

October will be awfully hot and buggy. I would take the earlier hunt.

I think you would enjoy August much more than October.

Was in RSA September of '14. Started hunting on the 8th, the Super moon was the 9th, I went 10 animals in 7 days. I'd take the first week of September again in a second.
