New Mexico ibex Immature or nanny hunt
Fellow Bowsiters - I'm looking for a little help-
I was called by NMF&G to say I was picked for an immature ibex or nanny hunt. My wife says I'm crazy but she'll OK the trip. I've accepted the challenge and plan to hunt the 3/5-3/9 season with a less than primitive weapon.
There are up to 100 tags issued so I'm thinking a nanny with a bow is out of the question in 5 days. If/when successful I'll be in a special draw with others who harvest for a small pool of Billy tags for the 2016/2017 season. I talked to to 2 friends who have drawn and harvested. I've researched the threads here and watched every video I can find on youtube.
I'm looking some pointers on places to start scouting and glassing.
Thanks for the PM replies keep them coming. Sandbrew
Thanks to all those that took the time to respond via PMs. The advice was all spot on. I filled my nanny tag this morning with a rifle. So far out of the first 50 nanny hunters 12 filled. Of the next 100 my group only 96 bought tags. Only 5 filled on opening day and I was the only one so far on the second day. Odds in the special billy ibex draw could be very good. Thanks to JDM for tagging along. It was a fun hard hunt. Sandbrew
Congratulations, now lets see it!
Good for you!
Good luck, Robb
It's a rifle kill so I wasn't going to post pics. I don't want the anti rifle kill picture police to jump all over me.
You've all ready committed treason, go ahead and post the pic. ;)
Congrats! Is that where you shot her, or was the pic taken after you got her off the cliffs?
She was shot and dropped right there. Small cliffs nearby but nothing to bad. Sandbrew
Nice nanny and nice picture. Thanks for posting.
