Looking to upgrade my bow. Who has one and what are your thoughts. Thanks
Ordered my carbon defiant last week( gonna be a month before I get it) best shooting bow Hoyt has put out in a few years. Loved it
Ordered mine in early December. Still waiting! I really liked the new cam system. The peep angle is much improved.
bigswivle , Who told you that it would be a month wait? Sorry to inform you but there are guys that ordered them in November and are still waiting to get them . If you ordered it last week I can say you are looking at June or July before you get it . Dude someone lied to you .
Huh, was in a store last night and they had at least eight of them.
Proline , You think I'm lying about the wait times ? What archery shop had eight ?
One of the largest archery shops on the east coast don't even have eight .
Nope I don't think your lying. I saw them at Big Als archery in Salisbury Mass
Not all were carbons though.
Ordered mine as well but it will not be here until March
I was talking about Carbons , should of said that .
How much the carbon go for about $1300.
I was told when I got to order my bows for 2016 . That's carbon would not be available till June. So I went with a aluminum 34 and love it. Glad to be back to a Hoyt. Hunt
Also there is going to be be no carbon bow for 2017 .
Should be receiving my aluminum Defiant 34 next month.
I shot both the Carbon and Aluminum Defiant a couple times. Both 30 and 34. They are very nice shooting bows and for me personally better than anything Hoyt has come out with for the last 4 or 5 years. I was leaning towards another brand bow before shooting this one.
I heard they we gonna release the carbon defiant 34 for 2017. Too much of a delay. Some guys might get some. But the big release will be in 2017.
Eemine, I have herd and have talked to a lot of people and all have said there will be no new carbon bow for 2017 . The 2016 carbon bow will be there bow for 2017 .
Ermine and Pope125 you are both saying the same thing. The Carbon Defiants will be out in June and will also be the Carbon bow offering for '17.
Bigs...I'd be shocked if you ordered one now and got it in a month. I ordered mine in October and was initially told March and now being told closer to June.
It is my understanding they "tweaked" the original version of the bow which created the late release date.
So, in the meantime, I bought a regular Defiant 30. My only regret was not buying a 34. Hoyt has a winner in the Defiant.
Has anyone actually seen a Carbon Defiant in person? (Not some of the other carbon bows, but a Carbon Defiant)
I've had the "regular" Defiant 34 for a couple of weeks but just set it up a few days ago. It's a shooter for sure. I was also told the carbons were out several months. Compared to the Nitrum 34, the Defiant has a bit harder draw cycle, but holds extremely well, and as solid as a back wall on any hunting bow I've ever shot and that is without the draw/limb stop on it. It feels and shoots longer than a 34" bow. I'm anxious to give it a good workout this year!
Best pure hunting bow in the market right now...
Cory, I did see and shoot one a few weeks ago. The local hoyt shop has a "supper bow sunday" event every year were they display all the modles to shoot and take orders. After shooting the carbon I changed my order from machined to carbon. They said it will be here in June sometime.
Thanks Dennis...I wondered if there wasn't some demos floating around. I don't think there are any on the racks yet.
I love my Faktor 34"
I liked (past tense) my Nitrum 34"
I just celebrated Valentines Day with my Defiant 34"
After shooting the Defiant for almost 2 months, it is the best bow I've ever owned...
Mark
Really liking my aluminum defiant but look forward to shooting the carbon 34 as well!
If I were to get one, it would be the 34. Guess I have something to look forward to in 2017.
Defiant 34 shoots extremely well. Love it!
Has anybody shot the turbo and 34, to compare them?
Defiant carbon it is. Thanks for all the input.
I shot all the new hoyts except the carbon 34! They were all nice but I liked the carbon 31 the best! I can only guess that the 34 is even better as I prefer longer ata bows!

Good to see Hunter with a "real" bow again!!! ;-) (BTW carbons are here for some...) :-)
Have not shot the Defiant turbo....but I have shot the Hoyt turbos in years past.
For what it is worth....I've always shot tighter and more consistent groups with the non turbos.....which for me make them the best choice for a forgiving hunting rig.

We have the entire 2016 Carbon line in stock at the Archery Hut Colorado Springs, CO to try out. The Turbo is a turbo, fast but not as smooth drawing as the DFX cam on the Carbon Defiant and Carbon Defiant 34. Speed comes with a price. The Carbon Defiant and 34 are super smooth and quiet. The Carbon FX is a great bow if you want the ultimate short axle to axle carbon bow. I'm torn between the Carbon Defiant and the Carbon Defiant 34. If I could only own one Hoyt and had to shoot Indoor Target, Outdoor Target, 3D's, and hunt with it then the Carbon Defiant 34 would be the bow.
Thanks for the update Billincamo. Can't wait for mine to show up.
Billincamo- do you have any of the new bows in a left handed version?
I have a 2015 Carbon spyder turbo. Probably the most accurate bow for me. I have a 27" draw length thou. I think shorter draw length guys can get away with shorter brace height bows and not be affected as much per say
In last years Nitrum line the Turbos were definitely the more accurate forgiving of the line. Won't know on this years Defiant line until I have more time with it at distance...
So, for anyone who has shot the new Defiant line, what is the main difference between it and a bow with a Z5 cam? Is the draw cycle better, or is it the effective longer ATA? I wouldn't know as I am a lefty and don't get the opportunity to shoot many new bows before I buy.
I received my aluminum model in 3 weeks. I shot 5 arrows at 20 yards to dial it in, and then shot a 5 shot group at the same distance. All 5 arrows were touching, and I had never shot this bow before. This was outside in the snow.
It is a smooth, quite and forgiving weapon.
I really want to get the new Hoyt. But until they clean up their pro staff, and quit using people that will break the law to kill game, I won't give them another cent.
Regards, Branden
Branden, Which Pro Staff members are you talking about? I haven't heard anything about it.
Loopmtz, Nothing in carbon left hand yet. Unfortunately I wouldn't hold my breathe.
Branden enlighten us on who your taking about? I did a Google search and couldn't find anything.
Yes please enlighten us????
I owned a Hoyt carbon before, never again. Did not like the feel of the carbon at the shot. Only bow I ever owned that had true hand shock. I asked a bud after I saw this thread as he owns a pro shop. He said maybe June if you ordered one in the last month. Shawn
Yes please enlighten us? Hunt
Marlon A. Holden Docket # 2014-0035 Holden pled not guilty in the Wilcox Justice Court for Citation 225917: Count A: Fail to tag immediately (mule deer); Count B: Invalid use of tag; and Citation 225919: Count A: Take over limit of mule deer; Count B: Possess unlawfully taken wildlife; and Count C: Export unlawfully taken wildlife. Court findings: All charges dismissed without prejudice; no conviction. This hearing before the Commission is held pursuant to the provisions of ARS. § 17-314. The Department asserts that Marlon A. Holden was responsible for the loss of one (1) trophy mule deer. Holden was not present. The Department received a letter from Mr. Holden’s attorney that Mr. Holden declined to be present. The case officer was present and answered questions for the Commission. Motion: Madden moved and Mansell seconded THAT THE DEPARTMENT BE DIRECTED TO COLLECT CIVIL DAMAGES OR TO BRING CIVIL ACTION AGAINST MARLON A. HOLDEN TO COLLECT THE AMOUNT OF $8,000.00 FOR THE LOSS OF ONE (1) TROPHY MULE DEER; THAT HE BE REQUIRED TO COMPLETE THE HUNTER EDUCATION COURSE, AND PROVIDE PROOF TO THE DEPARTMENT’S LAW ENFORCEMENT BRANCH, BEFORE APPLYING FOR ANY OTHER LICENSE TO HUNT IN THIS STATE; AND FURTHER MOVE THAT THE DIRECTOR, AS SECRETARY TO THE COMMISSION, BE DIRECTED TO SIGN AND ISSUE A FINDING OF FACT, CONCLUSIONS OF LAW AND AN ORDER IN THIS MATTER PURSUANT TO THIS MOTION. Vote: Unanimous
Branden thanks for posting. I can't believe Randy Walk allowed him on their hunting pro staff. I wonder if they weren't aware?

From the 2015-16 AZ Hunting Regs...
2014 License Revocations Correction
In the printed version of the Department’s 2015-16 Arizona Hunting Regulations, Marlon Holden, Kevin Mangum, Charles Stegenga, Phillip Stricklin and Betsy Lagos are listed as persons convicted of wildlife crimes that led to the Commission revoking their hunting and angling privileges.
This statement as to Marlon Holden, Kevin Mangum, Charles Stegenga, Phillip Stricklin and Betsy Lagos is erroneous.
Mr. Holden has not been convicted of a wildlife crime in Arizona. His license to hunt and fish was not suspended or revoked due to a wildlife-related conviction. He was civilly assessed damages by the Commission for the loss of a trophy mule deer to the state of Arizona. Mr. Holden has filed an action in the Superior Court for a review of the Commission’s action. The Department sincerely regrets these errors.
Pro means promotional in this case. It seems like now days if you use a lot of hash tags to promote a company on social media they will put you on their pro staff. I just am not going to support a company that supports somebody that essentially stole from me. Since that is what illegally taking an animal is is stealing.
Regards, Branden
There's a podcast out there with a preface stating.... "Marlon has only been hunting for 9 years, yet has taken 40 muley’s with his bow."
Now I know the rest of the story . Thanks Hunt
All I saw was Mathews bows in his "trophy" Pics. I'm guessing Hoyt is in the process of confirming everything with an internal inquiry and then they will react accordingly. Thinking you might be more of a PSE type guy... ;-)
Shot an aluminum defiant today. Pretty sure I'm sold on it as well.
Figured I would bring this thread back and see if anyone had anymore feedback
I bought an aluminum Defiant about a month ago and I am very pleased with it. Tight groups, quiet, and forgiving.
Got my LEFT HANDED Carbon Defiant last week! Smooth as silk! love it!
I put my Carbon defiant 34 together with 65% mods and loving it!
These next three photos were with one field point and one broadhead. This is 3 out of for groups. The 1 group not included I shot the broached an inch left as that is where the pin was when the release fired. Not the bow or broad heads fault all on me. Arrow are Gold Tip Platinum Pierce with Ramcat broad heads.
Great shooting Bill! Have you had a chance to shoot any distance past 40yd yet?
Yes sir! Awesome shooting, and tuning!
Thanks,I haven't had a chance to shoot past 20, to much snow here in Colorado. Will let you know my results as soon as I get a chance to hit 40 and 50 yards.
Looking good.
I pulled the trigger and ordered it on Saturday. Excited. Now hurry up and wait.
Billincamo, aka Fletchinghater. LOL. Nice shooting and great looking bow.
Hows the weather now BIll?
