Welcome to the Aporkalypse hog hunt at Shiloh Ranch in Oklahoma. This year hunters include Boothill, Hunt4life, Bruce F, John D, Jay M, Jacob W and myself. The hunt started out in fine fashion and we saw several groups of hogs as we walked out to the stands.

Shortly after getting to stand 2, I spied a bedded hog and tried a stalk. I got within 10 yards of the sleeping pig but could not get the perfect shot angle. I pulled out and went back to my stand.

Jay M just scored on a nice hog. That was fast! Congrats Jay!
Good for you. Stalking bedded pigs is a load of fun.

72 degrees, wind out of the SSE 10-12 mph.
Maybe I should climb down and try to stalk that pig again?
Since this is the first night of the hunt, I will wait and see what comes in to the feeders. Must be strong!

Chances are, he'll come in to the feeder anyway. When does the feeder go off now? 5 or later?
4:13 PM LIVE from Ok*
4 pm, I jump every time they go off.
Here piggy, piggy!
Darn....wish I was sitting in the ground blind, there'd be one of the 14 there having a bad day.

Bad Karma was right. The pig I stalked and passed on, came in but only made it 30 yards. I think I broke its heart!

I can hear more hogs in the woods.

I can't post pics from here.
4 hogs down with about an hour to go before dark.

Correction, only 3 hogs. Jay did not get one.

Hogs slowly working their way towards me. Getting a little dark.

9 hogs at my feeder and all I can do is watch. Still pretty cool.

After a great dinner of home-made fajitas, and drinks, it was time to hit the sack. The long drive and lack of sleep had taken its toll.

Saturday morning I just couldn't stand not being in a stand so I grabbed minimal gear and headed for stand 1A.
7:28 AM LIVE from Ok*
The morning feeder goes off at 7 am.
I got to the stand at 6:55 and there are 11 Obama deer just hanging around the feeder.
Feeder goes off and they scatter, only to come right back.

11 hogs coming fast from the northeast. All but 1 are too big for a second hog. Very jumpy.
No shot and they finally leave.

9 more hogs from the northeast coming.
1 possible shooter.

1 possible small hog in the group.
As the target hog goes broadside I started my draw. Next thing I know I've punched myself in the face and my arrow flies 10 yards above the hogs. Pigs scatter in all directions.
Release loop decided to come undone.
Dang I hate premature releases!

Sounds like a bobcat is fighting or breeding to the south of me. Heck of a racket.
7:51 AM LIVE from Ok*
1 squirrel working hard to break into the feeder.
Sounds like a fun hunt. I always wondered if the loop would ever come undone, guess that answers my question! Good luck.
So where's the pic of your hog, Mike? Need a long lens to make him look bigger or what? :)
That loopy thing makes me happy I spent the money to get a new string, etc. on my bow last month. Every two years, all that stuff gets replaced, no matter how good it looks.

My IPhone seems to be picky when it comes to sending pics.
20 mins until the feeder goes off.

Feeder goes off and even the tweeter birds leave. Hmmm

Finally I can hear some hogs. Can't see them but heard some. C'mon piggies!
4:39 PM LIVE from Ok*
All quiet, almost too quiet.. Woods are very dry and oak leaves are crunchy. I will hear hogs long before I see them. Wind needs to lay down.

Spotted a few hogs but northeast of my stand moving towards 3.
Ground blind or ladder?
Better hope a field mouse doesn't give you a broadside.:)

Hogs starting to move by everyone else so far. I'm waiting for prime time! Won't be long.

Wow, no hogs killed tonight. Very windy tonight, so maybe that was the problem. To

Bruce and I hit the road for the 13 hour drive home but Jihn went to 1A and killed a nice hog this morning.
Sounds like the hot weather may have slowed them down on the feeders this trip. We had the same problem on our hunt last year. We'll let you know how we do in the cooler temps and unfortunately rain that is supposed to move in Monday night.
If it's raining, put someone at Rattlesnake Ridge and corn the heck out of the road.
It gets old sitting in the rain, but it can get real productive.
I have some other spots, but that one would work well.
Thanks for the tip bad karma. We've hunted Shiloh after a big rain of 5 inches. After the water went down and we could make it to the stands we were all covered up with hogs. However I don't recall putting in any long sits while it was raining. I don't think any of our group have ever hunted Rattlesnake Ridge, but we've been talking about giving it a try this year. Sounds like that might be a good spot. More spots?, I'm all ears.
The hogs can root well when the ground is wet, so they're out doing just that, and using the roads.
Since that stand is on a road....it's a good shot during the rains. Plus, I think it's easier to get to the stand undetected when the rain is out. Sucks being in an outdoor stand in the rain though. The blinds are a lot nicer.
See your PM.
OK, I feel like an idiot..where do you find your PM's on this thing?
Try again. I responded to your PM and also email.
