Orion, we didn't know we were going to hunt that area until we got dropped there. We had a choice of a river crossing or that ridge top location. We left that decision up to BOWUNTR since he was the veteran. The river crossing was further north and the caribou were mostly migrating south. Although that location provided better cover to hunt out of camp easily, Ed felt it was too much of a gamble that the herd had already passed mostly. So to the barren ridge top we went. That proved to be the right move, just meant we had to drop down into the creek bottoms to find stalking cover. Made for more work, but it was obviously the right decision. Part of the adventure, you don't know where you're going until you get there.

Great video. Here's some info if you find yourself in a similar situation with no cover. Once you have the first bull down, use the antlers along with a buddy. Hold the antlers above your head, act like a feeding bull and you can walk right up to the herd. You can also use your bow but real antlers seem to work better. I've gotten as close as 5 yards several times. And used this method on hundreds of caribou.
