Newfoundland Satellite Phone

I am traveling to Newfoundland the 3rd week of September for a moose hunt with Effords. I am thinking of bringing a Globalstar 1700 SAT phone. Just wondering if anyone has had any experience with Globalstar in that area and how good the coverage is. Any input would be appreciated.

My globalstar 1700 worked well there. I also had cell service at times. I had the Sat phone because my wife was 6 1/2 months pregnant with twins when I was on that trip and we weren't sure what kind of cell service we would have. I was up near the north end of the island.

Jmail, I hunted with Effords last year, the guides had sat phones in camp they will let you use them.

Thanks guys. Maverick, I'm from Berkley which is about 50 miles south of Boston. Doubleforkey, which week did you hunt? My hunt starts on the 23rd so I'm hoping to hit the rut.
