I have been hunting suburban birds around the corner from my house. There were at least 2 dozen amonth or so prior to the opener, 8-9 gobblers, 5-6 jakes and the rest hens. Opening week there were 6-7 gobblers, 3 jakes of which I killed one and 4-5 hens. The other day there were only 5 gobblers and that is it. Just drove around the block and there are only 4 gobblers. Starting tomorrow we can hunt all day so I will be in my blind around 6PM. They head to their roost trees thru the local backyards so I hope to get a shot. I am the only one hunting them and there is no pressure at all so I am wondering what has happened to the rest of the gang. With no hens around I would think that some yelps should get them interested. Might do a live hunt tomorrow

I bet the hens are nesting so some of them have moved? If you can find a lone tom or toms roaming around after the hens nest later in the morning you will likely be in business!

Chip,
I think Jims has your answer!
Good luck and keep us posted on what you find.

They've all migrated to Northern California. ;)
