Well it's that time of the year again for the 10th annual Porkapalooza at Shiloh Ranch Hunting Camp with Matt & Cheryl Napper. Boothill and Hunt4life as well as 7 others have joined us to celebrate a decade of hog hunting.

Feeder went off, about caused a heart attack. I can see hogs. ??9 hogs came in but spooked when a limb fell. All about 60-80 pounders.

Heard splashing behind me, a nice black hog found a wallow. Too thick to shoot, all I could do is watch. When the wind shifted, I was busted.

Really slow at #6 so far. Had a little watermelon and maybe a 75# skirt edge of trees early but all quiet since then. The last 30 minutes could be exciting.

13 yards broadside and I couldn't take it anymore. 30 yard recovery. About 115ish sow. She will be a good eater. Pics tomorrow. Hunt4life is tracking one and another guy scored as well.

We can hardly believe that ten years have passed already since the first Porkapalooza hog hunt! We enjoy following along on the live hunt from Matt's phone and reading what you all are experiencing out in the stands. It was a pretty productive night with everybody seeing hogs and four out of ten taking shots. We still have one MIA, but hopefully it will make an appearance when the feed route is run in the morning.
Here are a few pics of the hogs taken tonight. The first one is Mike (INbowdude) with a nice hog he shot from stand 1A. Good shot Mike!

Getting ready for the pitch-in lunch. Steaks, baked potatoes, salads, pasta, several desserts and other goodies. Of course the Porkapalooza would not be the world-wide event without the traditional group photo, complete with snouts. Also, the often imitated, but never duplicated, Pork t-shirts and the perennial Porkapalooza Potion. More good times today! Lots of guys ready to put the smack down on some hogs. I'll be a casual observer (dang it).

Friday night hunt, most of the guys are out on stand. In an extremely rare instance, I am sitting at stand 5 in the ground blind sauna without my bow. Yes, as much as it seems foreign to me at Shiloh, I have two hogs already in the freezer and don't need a third. Plus I will be back in Hogust. As well.

This is why we do what we do, and why we love what we do so much. This plaque was presented to us today by Hamicus Procurus himself, the Grand Poobah of the Porkapalooza. We sure do appreciate you all so much for making us feel like such a big part of your hunt. And this pretty much sums it up. This hunt is more about the camaraderie, fellowship and laughs than the hunting itself. We only hope you all enjoy being here as much as we enjoy having you!

You know how hogs like to wallow in the shade on a hot summer day? Well...the pic says it all. :)
Here's the gang after a lunch of ribeyes cooked over a hot campfire, baked taters, gumbo, buffalo chicken dip, baked beans, macaroni and potato salad, cherry pie, s'more bars, chocolate chip and peanut butter cookies.
All that's missing is the mud.

Murder at 1A. The hog started at the red arrow, ran the yellow path and ended up under the white arrow.
Really weird how those arrows just appeared in the woods.

I can't believe it's already the last night of the hunt. We have three hogs added to the freezer tonight. Here's Brian (Boothill) with a good hog he shot at stand 7 tonight. If you look closely at his cheeks you can see it has wattles. That's something we don't see very often, and especially on a hog with cloven hooves. Congratulations Boothill!

Porkapalooza 10 is in the books. Another great hunt with great people. Always good to see old friends and make some new ones. But like every hunt, the time is always too short and work and family commitments call us.
