That hunt is really a fun one. I did it some years back, and was absolutely thrilled to hunt with the natives in Nunavut. The guys that guided me (and took care of my mom, who came as photographer) were the "real deal". The peripheral activities were worth the price of admission, since mom got to spear char at some Rapids and I got to skiff across the ocean at the top of my continent. Muskox is incredible table fare. I think it's my favorite wild animal, ever, as far as eating quality.

Here's to tagging both critters! Best of luck. I hope you see more caribou than I did!

Mad Trapper,

I'm poaching Kyler's wifi right now :) I connected with my bow on a bou last night. He has double shovels and back scratchers. Tops are decent. Haven't seen a muskox yet! One of the guys in my hunting party connected with a muskox on day one. Another buddy's luggage didn't show up....no bow! He used a camp rifle and tagged out on a super nice bou and ox. The outfitter has a great camp, good guides, etc. Basically lost today to weather. Only two more days to make it happen!

Sorry for the delay in getting the pics and hunt recap posted!

First off we had a great hunt with Adenture Northwest. Kyler and his crew did a great job accommodating our group. There were no major issues and the guides did a good job. I hunted central barren ground caribou a number of years ago and had a bad expiernce with the natives drinking, not working hard, etc. We experienced none of this. Obviously some guides were a little more hard charging than others but everyone had a great time.

Here are a few pics of the plane, camp, etc.

Camp photo's were on another card. We used boats to cover 30-50 miles a day to access different areas. We lost one day due to high winds....water was too rough.

The caribou and muskox were a little scares for sure. We didn't see a lot of either species. Infact I didn't see a single muskox until the end of the hunt. I ultimately shot the smallest bou out of our group. Two potentials B&C bulls were shot with rifles and two with bows

He has great double shovels, back scratchers and okay tops. I was pumped to get him with my bow. I shot a good one a few years ago with a gun but I really want to get all 5 species with my bow.....2 more to go!

My son and I hunted caribou with Webber's Lodges Outfitters in Nunavut back in 2014. It was a fantastic experience and we both took two bulls each. My wife and I are going with them again to hunt moose in September. I am thinking about hunting muskox with them too. Great outfit and a fantastic adventure.

We connected on the big one unfortunately it was with a rifle. I belly crawled through the tundra with my bow on the back of my legs. I couldn't get any closer than 200 yards away from the muskox. I waited 1hr - 45 mins hoping they would come back my direction but that didn't happen. The wind started to switch and I knew I had to make my decession quickly. With daylight fading and the hunt winding down I elected to use my guides rifle. At some point I'll re-do this hunt but for now I'm still happy with the outcome. This is my 22nd big game specie in N.A. and probably my favorite group hunt to date.

Beautiful bowl congratulations the only unfortunate thing about that was that you chose to use the word unfortunately in your description

From: TheSaint

Unfortunately probably wasn't a good word choice. I was a little bummed we didn't have any other opportunities. Unfortunately I'll hopefully have the chance to hunt them again ;)

Good hunt and recap. A friend of mine has a full body musk ox mount in his house. At the time, it was the first life sized I had seen. I was unprepared for how short their legs are, but a beautiful animal nonetheless. Congrats !

Do you have a rough idea of score on the muskox?

From: TheSaint

Ambush,

They think he'll be pretty close to netting B&C. I'm going to have the bou and muskox scored in a couple months. I'll let everyone know the score then.

I'll try to download more pics and posy more details too!
