Yeah, tail may be a little long for a mink... I'll go with fisher... Regardless, its from the weasel family...8^)
Serge, I always enjoyed reading your stuff in TPC. Do you still write for them?
Fisher in Summer hair.As stated, the tail is too long for a mink. Also the hind legs are too long for a mink.
My first thought was Fisher.
Was always curious how a non aquatic weasel received the name "fisher"?
Name likely comes from the old French - fitchew
an archaic name for polecat
Many new animals were named with similar names to their European équivalents!
Would have evolved eventually to Fisher.
Thanks KJC - been writing for TPC since 1990 or so!
Hey Serge! How's it going? I agree, looks like a skinny Fisher, maybe a young one?
Looks like a wet fisher after all the rain in MN. Otters can look pretty skanky too but this one is too skinny.
Legs are way too long for a mink.
Its a trail through some woods. About 2' to the right of the Fisher.
A fisher that is likely dead by now since this thread is years old. Odd revival to post what consensus had already agreed upon.
But worth it to find out that we have Serge around here...
