How was the Sockeye run this year guys? Many Sockeye left that didn't turn reddish yet? Something is wrong with both these pics guys.......I don't see one beverage in the background!

I only fished for a couple hours and caught two red sockeye.

My beverage was in the front of the boat!!

I had a great trip with Beaverfoot, but did not get a goat. Passed a nanny on day 5 at five yards at full draw. Passed a youngish billy on day 8 at 28. Saw over 80 in ten days, but as goat hunters know seeing them and seeing shooters that one can get to, and recover if shot, are different things.

absolutely one of the best and most rewarding and demanding and satisfying hunts of the 57 guided hunts I have been on. Spectacular and classic in all regards.

Glad you had a good hunt with beaverfoot Grant! To bad you couldn't get your big billy. Really looking forward to that hunt with them next year!

i have been surprised by lack of mtn goat hunt reports as well, but I have a report i can share.

I was one of the lucky ones to draw a Montana mountain goat tag this year. I put a lot of work into my tag, and pretty much skipped archery elk this year so i could concentrate on my goat tag. My camp was 9.8 miles one way from the trail head, and I did a total of 4 trips in including scouting in August and hunting in September. In total i put over 80 miles on my horses during that time hunting and going into and out of camp. It was really tough hunting, in total during my all my trips i saw a total of only 5 billies (saw 25-30 nannies & kids also). Of the 5 billies, only 3 were accessible, and on my last trip in i ended up tagging this guy. Not as long of horns as i wanted, but i am extremely excited to tag a billy, as it is only about 50% success on the tag i drew. And his hair is amazing, he is absolutely beautiful! Due to the terrain i was hunting, lack of goats, and time, my bow got shelved and i let the Sako bark! I was able to get directly above him and shoot pretty much straight down at 170 yds. He only fell about 200 feet and stopped in a wash out. In the country i was hunting, 200 feet is nothing... many of the goats were on 300-1000 ft vertical cliffs.

I am still amazed by the country that these critters live in... I have a newly acquired respect for these animals that only those who have hunted them will understand... truly amazing animals!!

About halfway though the hunt I came up with the phrase....

"On an easy day of goat hunting you are afraid you are going to die. On a hard day of goat hunting you are afraid you won't."

There were some hard days.

What a personal accomplishment though. Unreal.

From: Ambush
28-Sep-19
Pics can be deceiving, but: Definitely a billy, probably three years old and going to measure about 42" maybe 43". If you are bow hunting in a tough area, you should shoot that goat. Unless you are picky and are getting opportunities at significantly bigger billies.

Shout out to the badlands 2200 I don’t know how many elk, deer, and sheep this thing has packed out, but she’s seen her last season. deboned goat , head, and all for the pack out.

And like most goat hunts, no goat is killed without a fall. Just after this photo was take down he went 100yds, over and over again head looking like A rag doll on his way down.

In the end a couple character scars on his face and he did chip his horns. 9. 1/8 on one side 8 3/4 on the other. Should be about 44-45 when all said and done.
